Lack of forum activity?
Is it me or has the forum been "slow" the past few days?

Re: Lack of forum activity?
Personally I think there should be more tournaments to solve this. Just so there would be constant activity here. Then there would always be people hanging around, waiting for the tournament day.

Forum activity has been in a general decline the months after the AotA DLC was released. But hey, I'm amazed these forums are still active.

Re: Lack of forum activity?
I doubt it'll die off, but yes it's been a tad slow these past few days. Events would, obviously, help. But you don't wanna over-saturate the Forums with event after event either.
I'm sure there will be another new event coming in the horizon.

Re: Lack of forum activity?
There does seem to be more events planned than ever. The odd one used to happen now I think we've had like 2 in the last month? It's going well in my opinion, especially since the forum's got a load of ad pathways for events now.
The cha on the forum is slow, but sadly its cus what is there about souls to talk about? Pretty much everything has been uncovered, no real information has come out about DKS2 yet.. The only real activity has gone on in off topic, and thats only a select number of people.

Re: Lack of forum activity?
As with most, i'm more or less just waiting for more news on Dark Souls 2, as well as for the actual release.
Sad news is, the forums will eventually die, one way or another. We'll all grow up one day, the Soul Series will one day ''die out'', with the servers keeping the online function up, gone. So one day, it will die.
The real question we should be asking ourselves is, when?
As far as that question goes, i think we'll have at the very least, a couple of years on us before it dies down.

Re: Lack of forum activity?
Nah, these are some of the most popular game forums out there (for specific games anyways), and i feel the series is gonna become at the very least an unsung cult populace.
I don't think souls will die out unless the developers try to get greedy and commercialise it, then it'll just be a generic action RPG that's too slow, has quirky online (though by that point it will have been massively ripped off), and a thin story.

Re: Lack of forum activity?
What i meant when i said that the series may eventually die out is that they won't make Souls games forever. Say Dark Souls 2 was to be the last game in the series. It would perhaps last say, (example)5-7 years in total if the servers kept on going. Once the servers are put down, people are bound to play it less, and eventually, the game will be but a memory. It may be played on single player, of course, but even then, new consoles will be released, and one day, it will be forgotten in the public eye. I'm sure the game will last for quite some time, of course, but i was just trying to be realistic. I do have the tendency of killing everyones hope that way.
Edit: An over the top example would be in say, a hundred years. I highly doubt the Souls series will be remembered by a big majority after such a long time.

Re: Lack of forum activity?
I think it's safe to say these Forums will survive at least until DkS2 releases and when that day comes, naturally, a whole new influx of Souls activity will arise.
The question then will become, will we still be allowed to keep this space or will we have to move to a new and shiny board?

Re: Lack of forum activity?
I think the fact is that there isn't much to draw the newbies in and the vets are getting burnt out of Souls. Man I've played through the game so many times, and I've 'learnt' so much and I've run into too much BS in PvP, that's why I'm here in off-topic since the people are brilliant and the opinions and arguements are well articulated.

Re: Lack of forum activity?
I kinda doubt i'd still be around if it weren't for the off-topic. I love discussing other things(although i'm very awkward in ANY kind of social situation).
Sadly any attempt i've made at serious discussions have been a total flop.

I'm pretty sure you could quote fexergence that they intended this forum to become a hub for the entire Souls series. I remember reading something like that back when they first started the forum and it was noted there was a 'demons souls' section.
That, and that they had granted Serious_Much a place to play and live- off topic

You see, I'm really good at talking to people over the 'net, cos I have to think about what I say before I say it but when it comes to one on one chatting, I'm horrendous, **** either comes out or my mouth dams up it's not fun at all. Indoors for life!!!
Kidding, I go outside (sometimes).

Re: Lack of forum activity?
I'm kinda strange, cus I'm fine in social situations, my future job revolves around communication and I'm quite social (when i want to be, i've always been a very much i'll socialise on my terms kinda guys), but I have a really nerdy side I keep as well that thrives just being alone, tucking into some geeky as game or manga..
The forum has let that side out a bit more onto the social part of the internet rather than just the act of gaming and such

Re: Lack of forum activity?
I'd like to see this forum stay active for as long as possible. It probably will too because of the new Dark Souls coming out so I'm not worried it will shut down any time in the next couple of months, but this forum isn't exbii there is a good chance it will one day shut down which is depressing to me.
I always hoped this forum would last a good 8 years, but I've been told I'm a dreamer when it comes to these things.

Re: Lack of forum activity?
This is all Souls games fans' home for the foreseeable future. This will be the same board used for Dark Souls 2 and beyond (remember how things always come in threes?). There is a bit of a lull, but what I think is more fascinating is how active this place and community is 1.5 years after release. There will be ample activity to keep us hopping forward into 2. And remember the wiki is always in need of editing and cleanup and the boards are a great place to coordinate that.

It would be great if this forum would last that long. Being a close-knit community and being up for over 5 years would be something to be proud of.
Not to mention it would give me more time to catch up to Serious when it comes to posts.

Re: Lack of forum activity?
As a veteran of many forums, let me tell you guys how this is going to work;
A large group of dedicated players (Us) will sit around and discuss what's going on with our favorite game while we wait for a sequel. We will coordinate events, swap stories, and become about as close knit of an online community as possible. Closer to the legit release of Dark Souls II, we will see more and more new people join and become a part of the community, which will be a good thing.
Then, right before or on the day of release, we shall see a massive spike in users, complaining about the difficulty, the fact that weapon X Y or Z is overpowered, tactic X Y or Z is overpowered. We will get alot of people who NEED the game to be their way.
Due to how hectic it will be, a few of us old timers will stop posting, allowing the newer people free reign. This will cause UNTOLD Chaos on the forum, doom that would make even Majora go "DUDE!" This will cause people who haven't been here in a while to stop coming, essentially replacing all of us who are here now.
Also, the three who stay will say stuff like "I miss person X", "Things aren't how they used to be" and my favorite "Back in my day...."
