    Drake Sword. Empty Drake Sword.

Post by Wastenowords Fri Apr 20, 2012 1:57 pm

Yesterday I thought I'd try the shoot the Wyvern from under the bridge to get a Drake Sword trick. I set up as per the recommended method, fired a few shots at the Wyvern's tail as it perched above the end of the bridge near the first Undead Parish bonfire.

I noticed that the Wyvern's tail dropped down close in front of me when it dropped to the middle of the bridge after being hit from a distance so I thought I'd take a shot......

First shot hit.....boom, Drake Sword dropped. Total of about 8 arrows used.

Level 44 Dex 21 Longbow+5 Large Arrows used.

I usually do it this way too. Usually takes me a couple of shots to get my timing right, but once you do it's not terribly difficult. A friend of mine, whose not a member of the forum despite my multiple recommendations, told me he discovered a new method to defeating the Red Drake the other day. I haven't tested this yet but apparently if you run over to the door that leads into the area where the three rats are, under the bridge, you can aim upwards and fire arrows into the underside of the Drake's jaw. I guess the damage output increases exponentially. He said he was doing around 100 damage per shot with an unupgraded short bow.

i do that all the time, though shooting him makes him hop down onto the bridge but you can still shoot him for good damage one he's there, as long as you do about 50 dmg a shot you should be able to kill him before he starts healing in ng if not ng+

Crown of dusk + ring of the firstborn + two lightning spears = dead dragon. silly

From the rat door you can aim with a bow, then switch to a talisman and you will hit him. Drake Sword drops after the first one. Although you really shouldn't be using the drake sword anyway.

If you're going for cheap kills I would recommend the other side of the sunlight altar gate that you can unlock after you kill the dragon. If you stand on the ledge above and right of that gate you can hit with your melee weapon. I used red tearstone ring, two handed great scythe and did over 700 in NG+. Probably coulda buffed the weapon for even more too. He flies off and comes back, rarely regenerating too.

I'm going to try it right now. The rat door method that is.

Wow that really does work well. Way better than trying to dodge up and down that side stairwell. That's what I've always done.
