How Dark Souls made me a better Person

Post by ViralEnsign_ on Mon Apr 16, 2012 6:17 am

I discovered that there are people out there who specifically go ou there to ruin the games of those who use gaming as a way to relax.

Thus I resolved to be better than that.

Also I discovered a new found patience for things.

Thanks Dark Souls I'm a better person for that.

Post your reasons why Dark Souls has made youa better person. They don't have to be true, you could already be perfect, just make up a funny one then.

After fighting Quelaag I now know how to more easily to defeat the giant spiders us Austrlians face evry day. (I'm one of those already perfect people).

Seriously this is the first game I've played online and the first game where I have become invested in the community. Theres been a lot that I've leanrt about. It's hard to pin down anything specific but theres been a lot about respecting people and well, I think we can all say, dealing with rage.

I wouldn't say it changed how I play, but did help reassure me that some gaming communities can be great. The one game that made me into the player I am is Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, I used to play that game online all the time. I was big into the duelling scene of it and it really taught me a lot of "Gaming Honour." Not so much, no one should be allowed to fight dirty. But why try to ruin anyone else's time when everyone can just have fun and be friendly?

Just don't ever play an RTS with me, I'm the hugest *** in RTS games haha.

This is the first game I've gotten REALLY into online which led me deeper into this community which I believe has helped me grow.

For instance, I never knew about the Giant Spiders in Australia DoughGuy. As a representative of all of America I figured you were too busy fighting kangaroos with boxing gloves on or convincing Kookaburra to leave you some gum drops.

It has taught me to praise the sun. No seriously, I now appreciate that giant flaming ball of hydrogen 65 million miles away

Golden rays of the glorious sunshine, sending down such a blood-red light
Now the animals slowly retreat to the shadows, out of sight
Arid winds blow across the mountains, giving flight to the birds of prey
In the distance machines come to transform Eden, day by day
Only love is with us now, something warm and pure!
Find the peace within ourselves, no need for the cure!

Patience, definitely patience. I have a very aggressive, hot headed personality. Dark Souls/Demons Souls taught me that you can't really rush into things without a plan and even if things get tough. If you keep calm and are patient, then you can get out of problems unforeseen by your plan.

Wow, this one is a lot

It taught me Patience definitely. Thus in turn, I'm really good with kids now, mostly because I don't snap and flip out on them when they annoy me because I have a much higher breaking point.

I honestly have started respecting the sun more. Even though I'm not a day person, or religious, I pretty much Praise the Sun for everything it does for this world Praise the Sun

It taught me not to laugh at others misfortune until they are dead. In NG+, i was in Sens, and I laughed at the Snakeman that gets hit by the boulder. Come to find out, hes alive, he comes around the corner, swings, and I'm dead. So, without confirmation, I don't laugh until they are dead.

It taught me that there actually are decent gamers out there who aren't disrespectful and actually do live in a world of decency and don't complain saying that the game destroyed their life because the game was good, but the ending(s) was bad.

I also learned that game developers aren't that bad either. From Software practically made me want to cry when the lead Dev said they might not make another game because people didn't like it. He wasn't interested in that it made money, he was interested in what people thought about the game. This was just one reason why I went on a spree of collecting From Software games. I currently own every gamecube, xbox360, and almost all PS2 games. I still need a couple armored cores, the otogi series, Murakumo, and I need to get a PS3 so I can get those games as well.

The last thing it taught me was that you don't need an in your face story to have a story. I plan to be a game dev one day, and seeing how Dark Souls was done, its a big inspiration to know that you don't need to always be upfront to be existant.

I've probably learned more, I mean, Dark Souls made me a better gamer and a better person, and there are so many times I see it, but its hard to describe. Either way, From Software are some of the best Devs ever, and Dark Souls is the best game I've ever played.

Dark Souls has made me a better person by teaching me how to parry. Not in the game mind you, in real life. Now, if I ever get into a fight with my brothers, they can expect a riposte in... Unwanted places.

There will usually be a time where I realise that my day simply cannot get any better, that the rest of the day will only get worse. This usually happens while playing Dark Souls

    Stay nerdy, my friends.
