Forest Hunters...?

I've been reading these forums for a whole 20 minutes and I read a lot about people saying how the Forest Hunters and gankers and how it sucks in Darkroot. Why? What do some of the people do? I'm a Forest Hunter and I fight honorably. I've seen more hosts that I've invaded use B-tactics. They rush me or one will Bow while their summon BS me.
I still fight by bowing 1st and letting a weapon buffer, even after all them a--hole hosts.

What are some of the reasons why we are considered "Gankers" and things?

people complain about farmers not the hunters, there is always a host with two sunbros waiting for you on the other side to gangbang you, you reallyshould never bow to them, kill the host!!

There's a good number of jerks hunting too. I can't tell you how many times I tried to duel a host and another hunter comes in firing despite the obvious 1v1. I see higher rates of jerk hosts with phantoms but there's bad apples on both sides.

Oh I see. I just thought of the effect of joining and then able to summon 2 phantoms.

And skarekrow13 when I'm invading and I am dueling the host I keep it 1v1, if another hunter invades and rushes are duel I back off and let him fight the host. I will also help the host kill Red Phantoms if they intervene during our combat.

I almost never go in right out and attack if someone else is fighting... UNLESS I see spamming of WOG and TWOP, then I rush in for back-stabs to the spammer. I don't like those spells and I will destroy(or attempt) anyone that spams it, only spamming it though, one cast here and there is perfectly fine.

well i dont blame them after getting farmed and the forest was never meant to be a pvp spot, the whole thing about the forest covenant is to kill whoever trespasses the forest, thats what they are supposed to do.

Yeah....I do the same thing....or try to. A lot of times the host will pursue me because it's hard to tell if I want them to have a solo battle or if I plan to run off and heal, weapon buff, shoot them with arrows/magic, etc. Rant has a good point, the game mechanics are set up to be pretty lawless in there and it is. My biggest gripe with gankers or campers is how lazy they are. I know it's their right to play the game they want too but I like to make them at least work a little harder for a minute.

The forest is its own thing and I like to come visit every once in a while for something BESIDES 1v1 duels. I go in expecting to be ganked on both ends. Because of this I don't get as excited about tactics other people use, IMO, everything goes in the forest... and I like it that way

i love it when i kill the host's two phantoms firsts and then he starts running away like a chicken with no head until he finally faces me and ends up beign a noob that cant fight lol.

Welcome to the forums! Check out the For the Glory of Alvina thread in my signature, it's all about Forest Hunters. As a Forest Hunter myself I play in a similar way to you actually, I never bang unless I've had past experiences with the person ganking in the forest. Try to keep the image good, and have fun and luck invading.

I've tried honorably hosting in the forest. It failed. I would summon whites and they would jump. If they didn't jump, they would BC out once they found out I wasn't ganking. I would be jumped by most invaders. It may have to do with the time I was on though. Some people have different experiences.

Why do people continue making threads like this when we already have 100 others floating around

I've been playing the game for sooo long but I have not gotten any idea on how the invasions work in the forest. Is it like the darkwraith invasions were there is a certain bracket for soul level? Is is free for all, a max soul level player character can invade someone like level 20? Sorry for hijacking, just thought to post here where there are lots of Forest covenant members posting.

On a side note, why do forest hunters hate it when players stay in the forest to gain souls?

We don't hate it when they stay to get souls. The guys that summon a phantom or two and maybe a red to boot to gang up on loners irk us some. However, it gives us something to do. Tolvo's link is not only an advice thread but a collective of Forest Hunters who try to take it to those guys.

Thanks man I'll head to the Tolvo thread and seek info on the invasion thing, really wondering how the mechanics are.

Haha, it's not my Thread, I just keep it in my signature. Yeah, you should check it out, a great place to learn about the forest and useful tactics in it. And we commonly use the word farmer to reference a person who camps and ganks in the forest, but we probably should just start sticking to the word ganker, as there are people who just farm souls off of the NPC's there and people could get confused. Welcome, and enjoy your stay.

the forest should not follow traditional dueling rules, its just a scrap, survival of the fittest really.
