    Hello all!

I am at a point where I have to make a decision regarding the the Greatsword of Artorias. I'm about to build it, but am not sure to go for the cursed or uncursed version.

Looking forward to the New Londo Ruins, I realize that the cursed version will allow me to damage ghosts. However, I have read that this is only moderately beneficial because I cannot block their damage unless I am cursed.

I'm wondering what other members have chosen, and how their choice worked out for them. Also, in general, do you believe the the uncursed G of A is a better weapon than the cursed version. Should I just stick with the uncursed version and go through the Ruins cursed, or with transient curses to aid me? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Peace

You can block with sword when two handed... If I remember right. Same with the jagged ghost blade and ghost blade, which I usually use threw this.

Doesn't matter. If you prefer raw physical damage, than go with the cursed, being that it lacks magic compared to normal. If you want better scaling, even spread (or close) of magic and physical, AND divine bonus, then get normal one.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking I would go with the uncursed, but now I'm a little more confident in my choice.

Considering u have the stats to use either version i would reccomend you get the uncursed 1st and the cursed one on the next playthrough.

Wear the Covetous Gold Ring, and you'll have plenty of Transient Curses to get you through the ruins.

Honestly: you never have to worry about cursing yourself once against the ghosts. There are enough transient curses in the starting area to get you through the whole ruins. Even without more than five to pick up then you are sure to get more off the remains of ghosts.

In other words, don't go for the cursed greatsword. It does less base damage, and doesn't scale as effectively. Also the non-cursed one I believe does holy damage, which will destroy skeletons which is much more effective than being able to attack ghosts.

Thanks for the replies. The advice about the Ruins was very helpful. I'll stick with uncursed version this time around.

i may be late but as a user of both swords i know the pros and cons to each.
The cursed one favours more of a strength/dex build, and is better than the original if you lack int and faith, however, if all of the stats needed to wield the weapon are over 40, go for the original, because it will do more damage TO ENEMIES WHO ARE NOT MAGIC RESISTANT. Over Half of the original's power is its magic damage, so if you want to use that one, leveling up faith and int are vital to doing damage with it.
I liked using the cursed one until i was 45 in both faith and int, thats when the damage of the original really came out.

And i can't stress this enough: Upgrade it, the sword isn't very good until it is maxed out.
