Assuming almost strictly PvE and co-op, should I go +5 Chaos or +10 Fire? I can farm humanity, but is it worth it?

I feel it is, I always use Chaos and not fire. More damage as long as you have the humanity, that's about it. As well if you are doing Co-Op it's really easy to keep humanity, but if you find yourself dying a lot I would suggest fire.

Chaos > Fire
....in 99 out of 100 cases.
(The one case being if you go around with less than 10 humanity for some reason).

Well, I went Chaos and I have to say it's kind of underwhelming. The wiki shows a +5 Fire Winged Spear at 240/240. Although the wiki lists the Chaos version at 202/202, it's actually 187/217. At 10 humanity it scales up to 227/262. So, if the wiki numbers for +10 Fire are accurate, +5 Chaos is barely better at 10 humanity. That's kind of disappointing.

yes the difference is not large by any stretch. that goes for all chaos vs. fire version for weapons.

Even chaos spells don't have much of a difference from their original counterpart, save the Storm (I haven't tried the whip), simply because it does 200 more damage each hit against Seethe, and it hits, like, 3 times. So the difference can be there if they're SUPER weak to fire. For the most part, it's minuscule.

Disregarding the wiki numbers, I have three gargyoles halberds I have used for comparing stats of elemental upgrades. When tested with a hornets ring on Black knights, silver knights, and dreglings in the undead burg, I got some rather definitive results. For backstabs: Lightning did damage ranging from roughly 800 to 1200, fire from 900 to 1300, and chaos from 800 to 1350 (these are rough figures). With parries, the figures were something like: Lightning did anywhere from 1200 to 1500, fire from 1200 to 1600, and chaos from 1200 to 1650, though I remember chaos hitting for 18-900 at times. these were all at the same respective levels (Lightning and chaos +4, and fire +9). Hope it helps a bit.
