Danger Will Robinson! Danger! Darkwraith around!

I'm in the Depths ready to go visit the dragon so I attempt to summon a Sunbro to assist. I'm having a little trouble connecting with him and it takes a few tries before he begins to arrive. Unfortunately a Darkwraith, who had already invaded me twice before, showed up in my world while I'm trying to connect. When the Sunbro arrives he has no idea that there is a Darkwraith waiting around. An especially sneaky, underhanded one.

We bow, and then I try to communicate with gestures and action that I need him to wait while I send him a message. I wave, do circles, and go to the far end of the room from the campfire and motion come here. He gives me the "What the ?!" gesture and I then start to send him my message. As I'm looking for him, he turns and leaves the campfire room. I immediately give chase, trying to get his attention. He reaches the hollow guarding the entrance. Kills him. Then as he trurns back to see where I am, the Darkwraith comes up on his blind side and backstabs him to death.

What could I have done better? Is there some gesture or action generally used to indicate that you have important information to impart. Maybe even a "darkwraith is here" dance.

I've had people summon me, then point down at the bonfire. I knew they were telling me they'd been invaded.

Bite the bullet and rush ahead? With any luck he'll catch site if the bugger as you run around and help you fend him off. Can't really think of a dance but point forward at the summon and then point down seems universal for "You! Stay right here"

The best thing to do is a have a preset message to send. then you can just forward it to people you summon quickly. All you need to type is "Darkwraith" or invader

just type dw right away, the wp's name should be the one on top, i do it all the time its rather easy to do.

If you are worried about the distraction of sending a msg, the most common one I see is when the host stands there with their shield up even though there doesn't appear to be any imminent danger. Most sunbros will pick up on this immediately. For example, stand by the bonfire in the Depths and face the hallway with your shield up. Elsewhere, stand facing whatever direction you expect the DW to come from. If for some reason your summon doesn't seem to be getting it right away, you can run back and forth a bit, and keep turning and facing towards the danger while putting your shield up again (or 2hd your weapon and block with it). If it still doesn't work, resign yourself to the fact that this will probably be an unfortunate learning experience for your summon.

Kujii: I don't have a dark wraith hand. Is that something I can buy from a merchant somewhere?

Ah man, next time I summon and get invaded I'm gonna have an entire routine set.

Kujii: I wouldn't call myself a true newbie. This is my first go around in Dark Souls. Yet, I have played many games similar to it in the past. If by New Londo Ruins, you mean the place where the ghosts haunt, I just haven't gotten up the nerve to try that area yet. I need to create a holy weapon first.

Are you trying to do a spoiler free run through Kirk?

One thing that has had some success for me in the past is to use wait until they are summoned, then look at them, get there attention, then put down message saying 'beware of darkwraith' using the orange soapstone, then point at the message. Hopefully they can see it? I also use messages like that to give general advice to newbies (especially in the depths) (though I haven't for a while now...) when I am doing sunbro deeds, works sometimes

way to ruin the fun with logic. kidding, that is an item that always slips my mind.

Spinning around and trying to communicate with gestures is more fun than the soapstone.

holy weapons aren't for ghosts, but are necesary, so be careful. (the npc in the depths tells you what holy weapons are for if you buy stuff then immediately talk to him.)

Whenever I'm summoned I check if the door is closed in Anor Londo and the Depths, if it is there's an invader afoot!
