Does anyone know what exactly these events they're talking about are?

They are holding black/white world tendency events. White = game is easier, black = game is harder with added black phantom enemies.

I played a bit yesterday, first demons souls session for me since dark souls was released. Found out the hard way that I'm a bit rusty on dodging and parrying. Online traffic wasn't high, but I managed to both summon and be summoned (at a low level) without too much waiting around. When I first logged in the world was pure white, but the other worlds were dark after I did the pure white 'quest' in the first level. Not pure black, since no black phantom npcs or primeval demons were present, but there were black phantom enemies all over. Not sure what's going on, but I might have to log in again to turn it pure black.

So they're altering online effects of world tendency? I'm definitely a bit rusty too. It's crazy how much I feel the lack of kicking and jumping.

Same thing here plastic, I don't know how many times I tried jump attacking, there is a 'kick' animation but its a push. It works with most weapons.

Right now I am trying to help a friend through Pure Black World NG+ Maneaters. Parapet Gargoyles have nothing on these jerks Prostration

    False alarm!

    http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/05/25/demon-39-s-souls-servers-staying-online.aspx

ATLUS said today it's extending the North American online servers for Demon's Souls. The game was originally going offline at the end of this month. No specific time table has been set, but ATLUS said the servers will be left on for the "foreseeable future."

"We're incredibly excited to be able to announce that the Demon's Souls online experience will persist for a while longer," stated Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at ATLUS. "While it originally seemed as though it would be unfeasible for us to continue to sustain the servers, a number of developments have made it possible for us to continue to invest in and support our fans as they have continued to invest in and support us and Demon's Souls.

"For all the gamers who have yet to discover the game's amazing online experience, we're happy to say you can still log on and find out why Demon's Souls is still regarded by many as one of the finest games of all time."

I'm starting to wonder whether this is a very smart publicity stunt: Announce servers shutting down + Then go back on it and keep the servers going = hero status.

    big grin

I'm on the EU server myself but I just wanted to say congratulations to all the NA players on this great news. DS is an absolutely amazing game that deserves all the support it gets, whatever the region, and knowing that new players will still get the chance to experience it for the first time with the vital online component intact is a very cool thing.
