Post by Parrotperil Tue Apr 10, 2012 4:02 pm

I've spent 197 hours in Dark Souls, playing with 10 characters whose combined soul level totals 409. For the last few runs I've gone through, I used the wiki fairly often. Just last night, I was watching a low-level playthrough video on YouTube and found out that there was a second bonfire near the top of Sen's Fortress. Now I'm hitting myself for the all the times I've reached the top of the fortress from the Parish bonfire in one straight shot, humanized, in order to summon Iron Tarkus and take on the boss.

Does anyone else have a story about something that they feel they should have noticed a lot earlier than they did? It would make me feel slightly better about myself silly.

I also didn't notice the Sen's bonfire until, well, just last night, after like 200 hours of gameplay. *facepalm*

I just posted in another thread about FINALLY seeing the Dragonslayer Spear statue at the Sunlight Altar. Not a big deal, not like a bonfire, but I've stood at that exact spot looking around with my binocs quite a few times and never noticed it before today. Over 1,100 hours, btw. That's pretty unobservant.

I only found the sens bonfire my first time because there was a message, I read a lot of messages my first time through the game, rather than using the wiki. It was really helpful

Ash lake was the one I facepalmed over. Because I got to that tree in blight town, saw a message saying invisible wall and went "Oh okay" smacked that wall down and got to the chest and went **** thats it? another message says invisible wall ahead and I went, "well DUH, I already got it, way to put your message in a useless spot you need to put them outside the invisble walls not inside, idiot." I think I even voted it down.

.... uuhh.. Thank you wiki. Clearly I cannot understand things until they are fully written out and shoved in my face.

Apparently the shortcut in Lost Izalith can be opened from the side with the titanite Demon and Solaire regardless of your covenant or rank. Took me ~600 hours before I found that out.

We're all bad at this.....there's probably millions of hours globally into this game and no one has the pendant pegged yet

I've resigned myself to the fact that it does nothing, and the comment about it being important was just a trick to get us to make the game harder on ourselves :|

I discovered a lot of things embarrasingly late. The most recent was the illusory wall at the top of the ladder up from the titanite demons in Sen's, which leads out to the gate raising giant. Prior to that it was the entire area in Darkroot behind the live tree where the frogs are and the way to the wolf ring. I just assumed people bought the green blossoms from the merchant in Sen's, and when someone mentioned farming "frogs in Darkroot" I laughed. Frogs in darkroot, you guys are such cards. Then I checked the wiki..doh.

I have to say, my laziness/stupidity in this regard is actually kinda fun, because it draws out the enjoyment you have in the game. I'd probably spent 50+ hours just fighting in the forest before learning I'd literally never been in 1/4 of the level. It was sweet, like my own personal stupidity DLC.

I am kind of with reaper on this one, maybe a patch or DLC later on will give it a use. But there is just no realistic way that millions of people across the world logging hundred of thousands of hours into this game just haven't stumbled across a use for it yet. Its unrealistic, and if that is the case and it does have a use its hugely obscure.

I tend to agree. I still like my Muninn theory on it but doubt it has a "use." However, after some hints and accident Ublug discovered an insanely obscure story trick that I found amazing. I hadn't even heard a whisper of it before until he started talking about it. So there's still a chance it does something.

Edit** I "like" my Muninn theory best. I doubt it's the "correct" one, or the "most logical" one or even a "rational" one. But it is fun!

If we have to use transient curses and have dusty dorito fingers before we drop the pendant infront of Artorias' gave or something I might just curl up and die.

Lol....To be fair the transient curses were a timing thing and if anything, the Doritos made the secret go away.

I am not so sure, did you try different flavours of Doritos? Maybe the Zesty Nacho makes him invite you out to lunch? And maybe the ranch flavour reverses his curse and turns him back to a real boy!

That's just preposterous Yukon. Everyone knows the hard to find Flamas Doritos are the universal sign of friendship and lunch invitations. You may be onto something with that ranch idea though........

about the pendant, I was looking around on the net, this is probably fake but....

"Guys, I found out what the pendant does! After extensive testing, it
changes the story line completely to corruption and evil deeds. I'll
leave exactly what it does to you guys but it's amazing! To get it to
work properly you must in this order:

-Don't join any covenants until instructed to.
-Kill the cleric in Firelink Shrine.
-When Rhea comes back with her 2 man army, go absolve your sins and she will forgive you.
-Go get the Lordvessel and shoot the boob-lady.
    -Anor Londo will turn dark.
-Kill the 4 kings before talking to Framps and join the Darkwraith cov.
-Go down to the Tomb of Giants and tell Patches you ARE a cleric.
    -Kill Rheas two undead knights.
    -Then
go to Dukes Archives and get the key to open the gate in the Giant
Library behind the two squid things that drop the two miracles and buy
all the spells from Big Hat Logan, he will now attack you. Promptly kill
him and go open the gate.
-When you go in the gate where the two squids are, kill them all and stand in the room.
-You can now Use Item with the Pendant and the wall will open up, much like every other invisible wall.
-There will be the secret boss (Gurya) behind that through a fog gate beyond a shrine.
-Kill the boss and go pray at the shrine. There will be another primordial serpent, talk to him.
-Go on to obtain the other lordvessels and place them in HIS shrine.
-When you beat Gwynn, Use Item on pendant again and it will show you another AWESOME cut scene.

    I'm
not sure if you need to do all of those but that's exactly what I did
in my save file in that order so try it out and tell me how it goes! " but if someone is going to do a new character, they should follow the guide just in case? Also, according to others in the thread, the developers has mentioned a secret boss at the archives.

Once again, probably a troll or something, but if somone would make a new character and confirms it's fake, that would be good silly (Just in case...)

If it's true it's either missing steps or fundamentally alters the Logan timeline. The way that reads is like you can't open his cell door until you buy all his spells and kill him. But to buy all his spells he needs to research Seath which he can't do until you open the door and let him out.

I'm aware of this, and as I said I think it's a troll, but we should not oversee that he COULD be writing and mix up the events a tiny bit, so maybe, you should do a playthrough and follow this is close as possible?

Haha, I love jump attacks. I've had fights that ended with simultaneous jump attacks and mutual deaths. It was like a scene from the Matrix.

I never once used my black seperation crystal because I didn't want to use it up until I found out where to buy more of them, it had a little number 1 on it see?

So yeah, many many maaaaaany hours later I'm still thinking:

'well this can't be right, I STILL have no idea where you buy black seperation crystals in this game and I'm pretty sure I've done nearly everything now.'
    *checks inventory*
    'Yeah, see, it's got a little 1 on it....it....it's got a little...a little 1 on it. Like...Like my s-o-a-p-s-t-o-ooooOOOOOOOOH You have GOT to be KIDDING ME! I, I just.....I cannot...but....
