by tonberryking01 Sun Jan 29, 2012 5:04 amI'm at ash lake, and for hours I've been trying to get the hydra to suicide. Was the glitch patched? I've gotten it to work multiple times on other characters, but it's not working now. I'm not even level 10, so I'm not going to defeat it the normal way. I know I can run past it back to Blight Town, but I would rather not have to come back down later and kill it. When I run past him he follows me some of the way, then stops and just tries to shoot me over and over. When I run to the dragon he doesn't try to go back to the beach. He just sits there until I start to walk back towards him, then he turns back toward the beach, but still won't move. Any idea what's going on?

why would you glitch? takes the fun out of the game... anyway yea it's been patched according to what I've read before.

Ah, too bad. I had read somewhere that it was one of the things that hadn't been patched. And, I don't think it takes the fun out of it. To me it just makes it better.

that thing is so easy and fun to kill dude, i love fighting that hydra specially because of the place you're fighting in.

Ash Lake is unbelievably beautiful. Best place in the game. But, did you kill the hydra first thing on a new game with a very low level and barely more than starting equipment? I'm sure it's probably possible, but I didn't want to do it. I've started running back up to Blight Town, and I'm surprised at how fast it actually goes. I'm always hearing people complain about having to backtrack, but, having done it several times, it takes only like 10 minutes to go from Ash Lake to Firelink.

Oh come on! Why do you need a glitch anyway to kill this thing? This was a fun fight in a beautiful place and I thought it was a lot easier than the Hydra in the Darkroot Basin.

Grab the eagle shield in blighttown and then you can kill it more easy than you think

You would glitch why? 
All you need is an eagle shield + any weapon and you can do it easily
if you have ranged attacks though, they help A LOT once there are only a few heads left that are annoying to catch before they're retracted, just speeds up end of the fight a lot in my experience.

The only benefit to the glitch is that you get the 5 dragon scales quicker (total scales in ash lake, 2 which come from the hydra) Like Carphil said, with the eagle shield you can easily defeat it. Don't bother going to the bonfire by the everlasting dragon just go by the first one.
It helps to have a powered up weapon of some kind to make it go faster.
