What has been your longest boss struggle?

I just spent eight hours today trying to kill Four Kings on NG+ so I can get the damned Darkwraith covenant trophy. Eight. Hours. I almost committed suicide, if it weren't for the highly entertaining people I encountered, then I'd have given up after 1. However, there was something strangely amusing watching two 'pro' hardcore players die horribly to the boss while I survived, despite using all my flasks to try and help them. Then there was the encounter with the guy who wore full Hollow Soldier armour with the Symbol of Avarice, using a Lighting Broken Hilt +5. That was entertaining to watch. And he did surprisingly well, with using a regeneration miracle plus the Sanctus shield.

Anyway I'm derailing my own topic. The question I wanted to ask what is the longest time you've struggled against a boss? My guesses are there's going to be a lot of ornstein and smough complaining as well as bed of chaos tales...

The bed of Chaos, I may have died to that boss more than any other boss in any game, combined.

Also, try not to single out Ethnicities like that, you might not mean it to come off that way but a person could possibly find that offensive. It's best to just say "Hardcore Players." There's no real need to state their ethnicity.

I had a feeling you weren't trying to be, but you never know how people see things so it's always best to be safe.

How does one derail his own thread?

For me it has to be either the royal quadruplets or the Bed of Chaos. Probably the Bed. It became so robotic just running there and dying. Over... and over... and over... and over again. Before on NG I had killed it like on the first or second try but on NG+++... nope. I guess I was a little tired then.

Four Kings on NG+. I wasn't prepared for their upgrade. I don't know how long it took but I remember having to lie about why I was so tired at work the next day.

I just realized I didn't give a length to my struggled. Bed of Chaos, three and a half days.

First playthrough O&Smo took me a good 10 tries.
Bed Of Chaos I can now get in 1-3 tries
4 Kings has held me up most recently in NG++(+? I forget.)

O&S by far. I have a 60hr melee file that I abandoned because I couldn't get past O&S. It was just 2 days ago that for the first time after about 5 solid hours of work that I got my first melee build past them. My pyro on the other hand beat them second try.

I have a weakness in that all my builds are melee. There's just something about ranged/magic in Dark Souls that seems.. wimpy. Unless you're hurling lighting bolts.Then you're Zeusy.

O&S did give me a lot of grief. I ended up just sidling round a broken pillar and taking advantage of Super Smough's long recoveries to chip away at him slowly in order to win first time.

The only boss I've ever struggled with was the bed of chaos. It took me maybe an hour and about five tries, and when I finally did beat it I had some summon with me who did all the work and it wasn't until I watched a video of it that I even knew how it died. I was just standing there then all its health dropped and I was like :shock:

I think dark souls suffers from the common problem that magic is much more powerful than melee. Magic is powerful ranged attacks compared to meleethat needs to either dodge or block or die.

Ceaseless Discharge, as a SL1 Dragon... the hard way. So no health, no poise, practically no defense--almost everything he did was OHK, and I beat him with my dragon fists! Took a lot of tries. That's pretty much where I ended my SL1 Dragon run, though, out of boredom. I probably would have gotten many epic boss fights, though. Maybe I'll revive the run... But next time, I'll just let him take a dive!

For me so far ( First playthrough ) O&Smo took me a good eight to ten tries. I was seriously stuck on them. in the end I just ran in without solaire and raged at them and somehow it worked, But I did not enjoy all those times I died

I didn't have too too much trouble with any of the bosses my first run. I think all said and done Stray probably took me the longest my first try. Maybe an hour of trial and error. He kept killing me before I could recover from the initial fall into the battle so I was having some difficulty trying to learn his pattern. I was wearing a full set of Stone Armor so trying to recover and then get out of the way was not an easy task.

That aside the first time I took O & S solo was easily an hour long battle, maybe longer. I spent soooo much time just running away and waiting for Orstein to separate himself from Smough for long enough to land hits without getting double teamed.
