On Saturday the 4th of May the Noble Knights sally forth from the far reaches of the known world and descend upon the hallowed Tombs of the Dead in the first Exalted March into Nito's domain. Thier ranks supplimented by allies from the Sunlight Souls the Noble Knights leader Oscar II has amassed one of the largest forces of holy knights ever to march against the Undead menace.

However to stand against the threat the Noble Knights pose are the Gravesworn, Nito's most dedicated agents all of whom have taken many oaths to defend thier lord from all invaders, and Priscilla's own Lifehunters led by the Hand of Priscilla himself.

The forces are destined to clash at the 1st Bonfire in thw Tomb of the Giants at 12pm GMT, Saturday, 4th May in a bitter struggle dating back to time immemorial.

This event shall feature sections of lore about the combatants written by myself, Dough, and Tolvo if he wants too. His prose is fantastic for those who have read it before.

For more information PM myself , ViralEnsign_, or Doughguy.

Participants must be Gravelord (Gravesworn/Lifehunters) or Way of White, Princess Guard, or a Warrior of Sunlight (Noble Knights/Allies).

The war shall begin. Lines shall be drawn. And maybe we'll get a pretty picture out of it at the end.

    Noble Knights

Dough Guy- Name: Oscar II of Astora

A knight who has proved his worth in battle many times, Oscar the Second is now the rightful leader of the Noble Knights. Son of the undead Oscar the first, who long
ago ventured to Lordran to complete the prophecy of the chosen undead, Oscar II
is man of honour, boundless charisma yet a pillar of righteous fury. His exploits are legendary, already the leader of the Crest Knights. He has spent years hunting wyrms, the deformed descendants of the stone dragons. He eagerly awaits his chance to fight Seath and destroy the traitorour beast. Thus he is an expert slayer wyrms. In the last two 4 nations Knightly tourneys he has emerged triumphant without losing a
single duel. When the east launched their attacks on Astora, after their high command was assassinated by the cowards Oscar rallied the knights and soldiers of Astora and led them to victory, singlehandedly planning the assault which crippled the East’s supply
train starving the army into submission.
When the Earl of Carim conducted his soul stealing experiments of Astoran
citizens Oscar led the revenge attacks against his labs, wiping them out,
destroying their research and saving the few remaining citizens. Now he at last turns his attention to Lordran, the land his father never returned from. Never truly believing his father could be dead or have failed Oscar II seeks to find his father and succeed him if he has indeed failed. To this end he travelled the world gathering a host of knights unlike the world has seen before. The Crest Knights of his homeland were happy to join him in their full force. In Catarina the people were happy to lend him knights for his crusade, promising supplies and more knights as soon as they could send them. In Carim he spent weeks arguing with the Earl before finally reaching an agreement of payment for the knights sent. In Balder he gathered a few of the small number of remaining knights with the knowledge many Balder Knights resided in lordran and perhaps some of them were still not hollowed. The last followers of Berenike came to him begging to join in the hopes they could locate their lost lord. He gladly accepted their help. In Thorolund Allfather Lloyd happily lent his growing coalition a large number of cleric knights provided they were allowed to kindle the bonfires of Lordran and search for the rite of kindling. In Vinheim Oscar promised the scholars the opportunity to study Seath’s massive collection of scrolls in return for a contingent of Mage Knights. On the edges
of the Great Swamp he met with those few pyromancers not considered true heretics
and gained their trust, convincing them to come to Lordran with him. Here he also met a small group of Knights who idolised lost Oolacile and its
stone knights. They, like the Berenike Knights, begged to join him so they could visit the ruins of Oolacile, the daarkroot gardens. With knights from every corner of the world under his banner he christened his order “The Noble Knights”.
At last they set forth across the sea aiming for Lordran. Glory awaited he and his knights, but heavy was his heart, knowing death awaited many more.
Yet he would not stop. Until he found his father and cleansed Lordran of its evils he would continue fighting and leading his knights to victory.

Lady Mildred of Catarina- Lady Mildred, upstanding knight of Catarina and acclaimed Dragon Huntress, wielding her massive spear and clad in the armour of her home is second in command of Oscar's Knights and leader of his Honour Guard. Her iron will and skill with the mighty Dragon Hunting Spears makes her a terror on the battlefield, as many knight have fough after making ill thoughout comments about her armour and its similarities to onions.

    Gravesworn

Avrik "the Crow"- Avrik "the Crow" of the Old Astoran House Tyrhannos has led the Gravesworn as Nito's hand since Siefer Locke betrayed the Gravelord'd trust and sold out his fellow servants to the Ecclessiarch's of Thorolund. As the Gravelords Hand he fulfills the role of champion, commander, and executioner. When Oscar cornered Siefer in Carim Avrik quickly made his prescence known and dueled with the knight for the right to Siefer's soul. unfortunately the mad man was dead on Avrik's arrival and his soul torn asunder in Oscar's ritual. Wielding a mighty Occult blade used in Dark rituals and bearing a shield, a childhood toy of Priscilla's given to him as a sign of friendship by the Painted Lady herself, emblazoned with a white dragon he leads the Gravesworn in thier mission to begin Nito's Age of the Dead.

Marvet "the Exile"- A wandering soul who long ago was subject to horrific torture at the hands of his masters, Marvet has become strong by feeding off the horrors he inflicts on others. Marvet had intially planned to use Nito's power to get revenge on those who treated him so badly but in doing so sold his soul and now serves Nito as one of his most respected Gravesworn. Apprenticed to the Master of Schemes and Emmisary of Misery Marvet has rapidly gained in power and has climbed to the lofty rank of Harbinger. He now stands as a sign of impending misery and horror. Few ever have seen Marvets face and lived, he has made sure of that.

It was mid summer when Oscar II of Astora rode out across the vast countryside with his closest honour guard close at hand. Though warm a strong blustery wind caught tips of his thick velvet cloak sending the trimmed hem skywards, twisting an falling almost like water.

At his back rode almost three score knights, many of them Astoran nobility sworn to serve his cause, thier armour resplendent in the noon day sun. Near a dozen were Knights of Berenike, Strong of build and fortified with massive suits of iron plate armour, their bulk forms dwarfed only by the massive tower Shield they carried.

Others included and eclectic mix of free riders and wandering knights, though notable amongst them were two knights of Carim, one a pale young man, pallid of complexion, inscruitable eyes, and a tendency to twitch like a craven. The other, and Oscar liked the man about as much as he trusted him, was elderly, or could have been, if he ever removed his wrought iron helm.

The company had made good headway having left the Astoran captiol three days prior and had covered more that thirty leagues, riding the horses hard for the border of Balder. Oscar shifted slightly, feeling a subtle sense of acievement as his saddle sores sent a fresh wave of pain up along his back, and gestured for Mildred to ride to his side.

She did so dutifully. As a knight of Catarina, the first of a few who swore herself to his ideal, she wore the thick onion like plate mail of her country, and proudly at that, many a knight had found himself at the end of her spear after an ill spoken comment. As her horse approached Oscar removed his helm, sivering as the wind gently kissed his face.

"Yes Milord?" Mildred, tone courteous, voice belying her exictement at the though of yet another quest.

"Send riders out along the road" He commanded "make sure that we do not become ambushed before we have even left Astora."

Before she had even left to do his bidding Oscar called the entire company to a halt. Armour gleaming in the light he drew the longsword he carried at his hip from it sheath laying its silver blade across his lap, all the while losening the strings where he had tied his Shield to the saddle.

Its was an ornate thing, the shield, forged of thick iron and embossed upon its scrarred and dented surface was the emblem of Oscar's household. A proud symbol of Oscar's affections for his father's great legend.

"I spotted a small group just over the rise" He indicated the direction with a mailed hand "The Berenike Knights will circle around from behind to block the road. Mildred will take twenty men with her and circle to the right. The rest are with me."

He spurred the horse onwards and gaind the rise in seconds, earning a commanding view of the surrounding lands. The hinterlands of Astora were a forbidding and desolate place though they allowed the mounted knights to make full use of thier mobility and heavy armour against invaders.

It was said that here Oscar I had stood against the might of the eastern hordes and turned them back with the strenght of his lance and ingenouity of his tactics.

Almost a hundred meters ahead of them, four cloacked figures approached steadily, forms full obscured by the dark cowls, though the glint of armour could clearly be seen from where the ragged tails of the cloaks writhed in the wind, like serpents.

"Halt" called Oscar, in a booming voice, which echoed eerily throughout the plain.

The fugures turned to face him, the seemed to think better of it and began to make a hasty retreat.

Hoove thundering across the plain the horses carring Mildred and the Berenike Knights began to encircle the fleeing men, cutting off thier hopes of escape.

Seeing that there was no means to flee the figures drew a variety of cruel instruments and Turned to meet thier foes.

    ********

"Sheath you blade travellers" Oscar commanded.

The closest figure stirred slightly, his shield was worn and battered with age and use, and bore a White Tower emblazoned on its scarred face, strode forth to meet Oscar, who had dismounted blade in hand.

"Is it common courtesy in Astora to accost weary travellers, Ser Knight?" The hooded mans voice was sharp and icy, twin saphirre eyes stared out at Oscar from the confines of the cowl. "Perhaps here the Astoran demand the names of others before giving thier own?"

Oscar could already tell he did not like this man.

"My name brave ser is Oscar II of the noble families of Astora. And yours?"

The mans hand reached up to pull back the hood revealing a shock of black, mussed hair that could, if it had been straightened, have fallen down to his shoulders. His chin was clad in a thick stubble and his refined features were dirt stained and travel weary.

"Ah the bastard of Oscar, Greatest knight of them All. or was he happily married?" The icy voice mused. " I had not heard tale thus."

I really don't like this man, though Oscar, his anger threatning to boil over. Though in a brief instand he was totally aware of the tall strangers companions.

One was but a mere boy, deep brown hair, curly, eyes the colour of slate, tall and lithe. His padded leather jerking was ripped and torn, muddied. He held a long ashen bow in his hands,a n arrow nocked, another gripped between his fingers ready to shoot.

Another, an older man, his grey moustaches drooped limply down his face before comming together in a small copper ring which bound the two together. His armour was a rich steel plate, chain links visible where the plates did not reeach, a steel cod piece sown into his pants, while a heavy spiked maul was carried in gaunleted hands.

The final man was more nodescipt that the rest, he wore a simple suit of ringmail with a cotton jerkin over the top, blue and white, which bore the crest of the Annodahl Family, a White Lark over a bed of ferns. In his arms he cradled a lonf hafted spear, and a wooden roundshield with a similar crest to his jerkin.

"It would surprise many to know that my father took wife before his quest began." Oscars cool reply. "However it would seem to me that your are trying to goad me good ser."

The tall man stepped forward removing his cloak. His armour was foriegn to Oscar. Ring mail over which rested several thick plates of enammeled armour, they covered his wrists, ankles, thighs, and right should. Each plate was a laquered green, inscribed with many wave like designs inscribed in a gilded gold. He wore a plain leather jacket over his torso which gave the armour a rugged yet cheap look. The rondle on the right shoulder plate was a simple white tower design, as was the clasp that held his cape in place.

At his waist a nodescript lonf sword hung, while, clasped tightly in his hand, the solid iron shield rose and fell with the Knights breathing. For Knight he was. No other could afford such equipment.

"I would know the name of whom I shall be dueling" Oscar, this time.

The man shifted uncofortably,as if naming himself were more trouble than it was worth.

"Aye" his reply. " I am Ser Joran Letos of Whiterock by the Sea, Oath Breaker and First Blade of the Tyrondyr of Septol! State your second. I chooser Ser Payln Royt Ilmart or Sechel."

The hammer wielding man stepped forth.

A series of low hisses broke the silence. Many of Oscar's knights had heard of Ser Letos. Most knew him as the First Sword, others had heared tell of disturbing rumours and called him Oathbreakers and worse.

Oscar feeling the eyes of his knights upon him stepped forth to meet the challenge.

"I Oscar II, of Oscar the 1st's blood, Kinght Champion of the Lands of Astora, Greatest Knight of them All, and bearer of the holy task of rooting out evil do so accept thy challenge! Lady Mildred! Second me!"

And with that the pair strode forth to meet thier destinies.....

Oscar II's speech to his Knights announcing the coming offensive.

"My knights, I come before you today with great news. In one week we will be advancing upon the dreaded Tomb of Giants for our first major expedition in Lordran. The Tomb of the Giants has been corrupted by the influence of the lord of death, Nito. Nito himself lies at the heart of this dark place. We have already defeated is Pinwheel priest, boosted by the might of the rite of kindling. That rite now lies in the hands of our Cleric Knights and will be put to use boosting our strength in this forgotten land. Now we aim for the leader, Nito.

However our progress through these depths has not gone unnoticed by Nito. Recognising our might he has sent his most dreaded servants, the Gravesworn, to defend himself and eliminate as many adventurers as they can. As the cleansers of Lordran it is up to us to defeat these Gravesworn and make the Tomb of Giants into the sacred resting place it once was. In doing so we will make it safe once again and help those who wish to end Nito. Do not underestimate our foes my knights, the black phantoms they can summon are more powerful than any foes we have yet to fight. Our only hope of defeating them relies on invading their worlds and claiming our vengeance by defeating the Gravesworn in their own worlds, thus ending their threat. We will also lend our strength to the adventurers who roam the tomb, seeking themselves the end
of Nito. We will roam their worlds as phantoms, crushing their foes so they may strike at Nito. This will be no easy task, our efforts here will shape the rest of our campaign. Stand with me brothers, and let us be victorious this day! Let us make the lord of death taste his own power. And let the fire illuminate the dark."

The Gravesworn will cloak themselves in dark and keep from the light for it is the light that will crouch in fear of our lord Nito! Gravelords Under Fire: The Crusaders (Gravelordvs Noble Knights War) Empty Re: Gravelords Under Fire: The Crusaders (Gravelordvs Noble Knights War)

    Nope read the full story.

Oenomaus was born in the wrong place, with the wrong colour skin - he was persecuted in every way - he generally didn't respond due to his naturally reserved nature.
Then that day came, the day he was given a choice by his master - Lautrec - "You can die, or you can live - bask in the glory of our arena - worm".
Oenomaus instinctively said "Yes" - His first Arena battle was against a man known as Gannicus - they traded swipe for swipe, the only thing keeping Gannicus alive was his lust for glory - Oenomaus on the other hand had nothing to live for - Lautrec had put his children - wife - and even his beloved sister to death. The battle seemed to last an age, Gannicus' onslaught was relentless - How did Oenomaus have a chance against this God of the Arena - it hardly seemed fair. Always a cunning person Oenomaus realised the arena was made of sand and the wind was coming from behind him - he ducked under the slash that would have decapitated him grasping a clump of dirt.
Gannicus now ridden with dirt in his eyes could not see Oenomaus - he had to rely on his hearing - which was distorted by the cheers of the crowd. Oenomaus slamming his hilt on the back of Gannicus' head awaited Lautrec's choice.
    Death.
Refusing to put his opponent to death he was lashed 100 times - this was unpleasant but at least the man whom he now knew as Gannicus was still alive.
In those months that came to pass Gannicus and Oenomaus became comrades and good friends - Oenomaus started adapting to this gladiatorial life and started thinking about there was a chance if he was to defeat 50 more gladiators that he would be given 1000 Denarii, Enough to leave this squalor ridden place.
Unaware of the difficulties that he would come to face Oenomaus stayed reserved - he refused to use any of the female slaves - he let his feelings about Gannicus using them build up - until...
At the peak of his prowess, he was chosen to fight the most fearsome gladiator of the age, Theokoles the Shadow of Death in the city of Catarina. However, this opponent proved too much for even Oenomaus' considerable skill, and he received near mortal wounds at the giant's hands. However, he survived longer than any other opponent to face Theokoles, which the spectators counted as a victory and allowed him to live.
Oenomaus spent a year in recovery from his wounds he suffered from Theokoles in Pompeii. Before he could return to the sands, he was elevated to the position of Doctore by his master, a fact which caused the current Doctore - Opious - to challenge Oenomaus to a fight and be killed in self-defense. As he was dying, he told Oenomaus that he had taught him well.
Oenomaus was hesitant about using his whip or having a commanding presence, but would grow into the role over the course of a few months. The first Gladiator branded under his watch, Crixus, would one day become Champion of Carim.
Again there would be a match against The Shadow of Death - this time he would not be alone - Oenomaus had a choice of which gladiator to fight alongside him - he chose of course his arrogant friend Gannicus.
When they faced the giant in arena, Gannicus' arrogance leads him to be bested and wounded in nearly the same way as Doctore was, and it is only by the efforts of Oenomaus, and Gannicus' last feeble stand that the giant is killed, athough Gannicus nearly dies from his wounds.
On the eve of Lautrec's celebration for receiving patronage from Arstor Glaber, Doctore watches as the Carim guards abuse his fellow gladiators needlessly. He brings the matter to Arstor, who dismisses it. He then questions Aurelia's murder and Ashur's involvement, and Arstor dismisses that also, lying that Aurelia disobeyed his orders. Arstor then announces that those matters will soon be Doctore's responsiblity, as Arstor has prepared documents to free Doctore and hand the ludus over to him, and he calls Doctore by his real name: Oenomaus. He then leaves to give Gannicus notice that he will fight to the death with Oenomaus at Lautrec's celebration.
At the celebration, Arstor observes the deathmatch between Oenomaus and Gannicus. He notices something is off as Gannicus motions toward Oenomaus, the latter of which leaps off the shield and onto the balcony of the Villa, killing Arstor.
Oenomaus enraged chases Lautrec down to the gladiators' baths and confronts him regarding his lies about Aurelia's fate. A brief duel ensues and Oenomaus emerges victorious as Lautrec pleads for a honorable death. Granting his last wish, Doctore prepares for the killing strike just as Lautrec whips around and stabs him in the leg, fleeing immediately after. Oenomaus chases Lautrec to the courtyard, but misses him hiding under Carim corpses.
Having forsaken his title of Doctore, Oenomaus abandons the other slaves and wanders Carim in disguise, and takes to watching the continued games in the arena. However, with both the houses of Arstor and Lautrec no longer providing gladiators for the crowd to watch, the games are pathetic in comparison to those of previous years.
With nothing left to live for, he willingly returns to "the only place left for an animal without honor": The Pit. He applies the white face-paint once used to humiliate him, and begins fighting any opponent that will face him (under the alias Addonexus), hoping to be killed eventually. His first opponent - Liberius - wounds him in the shoulder, but Oenomaus is victorious. Not only is he victorious, but he requests to be pitted against more fighters. He continues to battle opponents, until one - Caratacus - nearly beats him to death with a hammer. Before he can finish Oenomaus off, however, Catatacus is killed by Lautrec, as he leaps into the arena to capture his former Doctore in his weakened condition.
After capture, Oenomaus goes through painful torture at his hands in hopes of breaking him and making him give up Gannicus' location. However, this does not work and a tired Lautrec attempts to kill Oenomaus out of frustration.
After much waiting, Oenomaus, Crixus, and Rhaskos are presented in the arena for execution, with their hands and legs chained and each armed with a single, blunt sword. They realise that the "fight" to come is but a show: they have been given inferior weapons to further remove any chance of survival.
They are shocked to discover that Gannicus has been recruited to fight among the opposing gladiators. When Rhaskos asks why Gannicus would do such a thing, Oenomaus answers by saying that he is a man without honour.
Gannicus awkwardly greets his former brother, and Oenomaus asks him if the rumors about what he has done are true. Gannicus hesistates to answer, and Oenomaus, believing this to be a yes, ferociously attacks in response, beginning the games. Gannicus and Oenomaus focus solely on each other, unaware that the other gladiators are secretly in the arena. They appear evenly matched, but Gannicus manages to overpower Oenomaus due to the latter's weakened condition and constraints. Gannicus prepares to kill Oenomaus, but at that moment, the gladiators bring down the arena, and a canopy collapses over the two.
After conflicts have subsided, Oenomaus begins to train the Germans and other rebels in the ways of the gladiator at their temple base. Eventually he and Gannicus and paired up against Crixus and Agron in a test of contest. The duo then cooperate together and easily best their opponents and thus establishing a sliver of trust and brotherhood back between the two.
When Lautrec and his men attack the gladiator rebel stronghold, Oenamaus proves a formidiable opponent in the fighting. By choice he remains at the temple while the other gladiators use guerilla tactics to weaken the Carim forces before they arrive. When the initial wave of troops breach the wall, Oenamaus fells many of them with relative ease, despite still recovering from his injuries and being without his preferred weapons. Later, when the temple is under seige by Lautrec's machines and the walls are ruined, Oenamaus finds no match in the Carims until he faces the Astoran. Armed with a single sword against the Astoran's dual daggers, the two clash for an extended period. While they appear to be evenly matched for the duration of the vicious contest, the Astoran eventually bests him by stabbing him through the hand with one of his blades, and then through the eye with a final push. Then, twisting his penetrated dagger, the Astoran rends Oenamaus' left eye, destroying it in the process. Luckily for the former Doctore, Gannicus, seeing his friend in peril, kicks the Astoran to the ground and supports the wounded Oenomaus through the tunnels and to safety. Oenomaus would later recover to the point that he can do battle.
Once again he finds himself doing battle together with his fellow brothers against Carim soldiers. Although not nearly at full strength and badly wounded from battles in the Pit, torture, the fall of the arena and his previous encounter with the Astoran, he easily kills several soldiers. Gannicus, spotting the Astoran enages him with haste. Although displaying a valiant effort he is quickly overpowered and knocked to the ground. As the Astoran motions to deal a crippling blow, Oenomaus intervenes saving Gannicus' life.
Oenomaus delivers a grave wound to the Astoran's lower abdomen and knocks him down with a powerful punch, remarking, "I owe you pain." He then hastens to the aid of Gannicus and helps him to his feet. Together they deal many more blows to the Carim warriors. The Astoran recovers and recieves two more wounds; one across the chest by Oenomaus the other in the arm by Gannicus. The Astoran parries an attack by Oenomaus knocking him aside.Gannicus attacks and recieves a fatal stab through his torso.
The Astoran, seriously wounded with a lowered guard is attacked by an enraged Oenomaus. Althouth the Astoran makes a few parries he is quickly overwhelmed and and brutally killed when Oenomaus rends apart his skull, killing him instantly.
