Getting rid of the ads Empty Getting rid of the ads

Post by FexDS Wed Jan 18, 2012 5:51 am

    Hello everyone

As is the case with the wikispaces site, these forums have free and premium options. At the moment, are all getting ads but there is a paid option to remove them.

I can pony up to make our posting experience ad free, however before I do I would like to make sure everyone likes these forums and is happy with them, as I'd rather not waste if they aren't what we are looking for.

So please vote your impressions and I will make a decision accordingly

Edit: Decided to pay. Thanks for votes!

    FexDS wrote:Hi guys

Looking at the overall positive response I
decided to go ahead and pay to get rid of them. You must be signed in
for them to go away but I believe that's a fair trade off silly

    What
Emergence was saying regarding donations is related to accountability.
Whilst I honestly appreciate the offer, it would be difficult to
demonstrate to everyone how much money was acquired and how much of it
was spent on what feature, and I would not be comfortable taking more
money than we need. So worry not, I footed the bill and can (hopefully)
eat dinner tomorrow. Donate to my stamina by playing nice.

Fex, I'm willing to help with the cost if you set up some sort of donation thing so I can send you some pennies. I'm sure I wouldn't be alone in this.

disregard my "i hate them". i do hate them, i just haven't had my morning coffee yet, so i didn't read the reason and simply just voted. if it is for funding, you should keep them.

but, it would be nice if you set up some sort of donations. i'm never, ever willing to pay 1 cent to get rid of adds (don't know why, but it always feels like extortion to me), but donating sum to some cause was never problem for me. as i always say, my mind is beyond screwed in some viewpoints.

i'd keep the adds and also set up voluntary donation. it might just be that those could go well enough to skip adds in the first place if you lose the reason why to keep them;)

I like the new forums, but I do find the ads disruptive to the overall experience. If it was not much cost, I think it would be worth it to get rid of them.

I don't like the way they interrupt the look. A donation setup would be nice.

If the costs are not prohibitive we will cover the expense. To be completely honest, we are uncomfortable with the notion of taking donations as it undermines the spirit of what we are doing. If the community wants them gone we will find a way! Thanks for your generosity however!

I'm sure plenty of us would love to donate. I still don't get what's wrong with that.

    @Carphil

please stay on topic and talk about the new forums/ads

I personally don't mind, it's like a tiny rectangle at the top of the page.. barely noticable, but if getting rid of them is not extortion I'll contribute some, it's a charity you're running after all.

    IT IS!

it's to name and shame those who are complaining about someone's hard work..

it's like ripping up a picture your 5 year old child gave to you and telling them is looked awful.

Oh damn I read too fast! I thought the poll was asking about the ads not the forum. Guess I should have read more, it was too early in the morning. @Serious I think I get free pass on the minus rep for owning up big grin

I'm tempted to make a thread to go crazy and then nija edit it so all responses just look random, would be quite amusing i reckon..

but yeah the quote is useful happy

sad If I'm posting multiples, its my phones fault, anyway, I really like the new forums but I can't figure out how to get a rank like you guys have. like how serious has the "addicted" rank. (lol doesn't suprise me) if it is a moderator thing then nevermind, I just thought it was cool.

Daemon arch it's the number of posts, and then the mods have their own, like fex is the Web master or Emergence is sovereign.

I'm hoping to get rid of the addicted rank soon, though dunno how many posts i need to get rid of it silly

makes me feel like i have a problem XD
