PvP advice / input wanted Empty PvP advice / input wanted

    Post by G0D5PR0TOTYP3 Tue Mar 27, 2012 10:55 pm

What i know of pvp on this game i learned myself to this point. I played and beat the game before i ever had live on my Xbox.

I decided to make my old main into my pvp hub character in dark anor lando and want some input on what i'm doing if it's good or bad.

    my armor is...

    Mask of the child

    Havels chestplate

    Havels gauntlets

    Havels leggings

    Greatsheild of artorias

    Man searpent great sword +15

    Havels ring

    Ring of favor and protection

At the moment i still have a sub 50% equip load, a hard hitting weapon and high stability shield, and i'm extremely aggressive against my invaders. I have a tendency of gauging them and then waiting for an opening and two handing my weapon to break their guard (37 endurance + ring of favor increase and mask of the child to benefit this style)

My soul level currently is 84 and i use fire resin on my sword when invaded, what can i do to improve my play? I hosted invasions for 2 hours today and ended with a 12:1 KD. I want to improve on this.

lol @ mildred, tanking is not that bad, turtleing is. great shield of artorias is not that good for pvp, the res are not that good. maybe the stone shield if you like great shields? or you could try the balder shield. now about that armor set up you have, everyone hates it and it might lead people to just bs you to death. i love the msgs, you should try to get your faith to 30 and use slb. and wheres your dwgr? jk the ring combo is good and perfect for what you are doing.

As mildred said get 2 sunbros and a BKGA I would add winking

No but seriously, know your weakness with this playstyle you are using and also your advantages, you are playing a very common build/equipment for farmers that's where
the joke comes from and this can maybe be something too easy and comfortable to
use.You are probably being killed alot from BS and Magic or people who flip and stab and flip and stab right?

That setup makes you slow and rely too much on equipment so try to use different things and not just that see if it goes better that way.

    Don't forget your TWoP.
But in all seriousness, you are probably just too slow to catch up with all those ninja flippers.

Believe it or not but i rarely get BS'd because i'm still sub 50% equip load and wood grain users haven't given me much trouble either, i just follow their rolls and time my attacks... or if i'm lazi i'll spam attack out of their range, then move in close hoping for them to attempt to parry and kick their shields out.

My trouble is with the AoE faith sphere spammers and some casters depending on if they cast a slow on me.

to be competitive in pvp, wear the flip ring or keep your weight under 25%
then you can roll BS punish Wrath of God spammers

For TWoP or what you call slow
    1) Run away, as the spell only last 10 second
    2) backpedal to a wall, and hold your shield
    3) spam great combustion, or any fast R1 attack
4)what ever you do, Do not roll

Dark Soul is not Call of Duty so no one cares about your KD really...

Put mask of the father, DWGR and FAP. Increase endurance up to 40. Substitute the Artorias shield with Grass Crest Shield for fast stamina regeneration, two hand the Man Serpent Sword. Now you have a flipping tank. :|

That... is a great idea actually... I never used the grass crest before until last night, i never realized how great it is.

Great advice, My KD ratio was good before but i plan to troll the hell out of people tonight with this combo.

None of the regulars here are likely to lose to that set up. If you want to improve, use light armor and 2h your weapon for a while. If all you have is dodging, when you go back to being able to take a few hits and block you'll do much better.

That's why DWGR should be nerfed, makes tank classes extremely over-powered. After having fun with that build, try something more classy, like full armor sets.

If you have any decent weapon enchants from Sorcery or Faith I'd keep the MSGS, at 120 with some of the lower enchants it can reach from 800-1000 damage, rivalling the BKGA at 600ish despite its superior reach.
Also I think Havel's Armor is a bit overrated silly Apart from the chest having a good 15-20 poise over most others, the other pieces only offer 5-10 improvement. As long as you watch out when players start 2Hing on you, you shouldn't need much more than 60-70 poise.
