I was actually thinking more like "at least I won't be forced to take fall damage like with Nito." Seriously, what's the purpose of putting huge drops in front of bosses like Nito and the Stray Demon?

It just reminds of the ridiculously hard tunnel portion for some reason. Probably the stiff animations the character makes when switching positions.
