Suicides at the Firelink Bonfire Empty Suicides at the Firelink Bonfire

Post by berkut Mon Mar 26, 2012 1:06 am

After watching another bloodstain of a person leaping off of the cliff at firelink, I finally decided to voice my question of: Why are all these people jumping off of the cliff at Firelink Shrine? I got it in Demon Souls with the Nexus, but I can't think of a reason in Dark Souls.

    Ideas?

To lose human form in a NG+ so you don't get constantly invaded.

You do not retain humanity from NG+ when you beat the game you start hollow even if you were human when you beat gwyn. Atleast you are hollow if you link the fire in the end.

It could be for co-op, in demons souls you couldnt help unless you were dead or hollow. Maybe some players don't realize its not the same in darksouls, or don't want to risk being invaded when they try to co-op with friends in new londo, catacombs or burg?

Right, forgot that bit. Still some people leave the burg open for pvp, killing oneself to not deal with invaders is probably easiest at that spot.

I can vouch for it, I've done it pretty often. I like to play hollow at early levels as well, but sometimes I need to be human for certain NPC invades and then I want to be hollow again shortly after. I know I could just turn off my PSN but jumping off a cliff is so much quicker.

Uhm, if I'm human... I just go human to the burg and if I get invaded and die then I'm hollow!
But there's still a chance I can win the invasion, so I don't get why kill themselves before even attempting.
If you've got a lot of souls use them and you're ready to go big grin

Basically this. The only reason to ever be human in PvE is to summon phantoms, otherwise you're taking an unnecessary risk.
