    Having played Dark souls for an excessive amount of time I've begun to think about features needed for the next possible game in the series (cutely named by following the D*** Souls theme they already have going!)

    Before I go into a huge post about tweaks and new features I would like though, I'm more interested in features other people would like to see in the next game.

    So post your fave ideas and lets see if we can make a melting pot of good creativity!

    Some bosses that are less straight up fights and more positioning, platforming and puzzle like. Like say a maze one where you need to destroy objects throughout it to hurt the boss, but the boss and regular enemies, as well as traps, impede your progress.

    I would love to see miracles or magic with enviromental effects. Like casting a thunder from the sky or like a tornado to see minions fly away...
    That could be pretty cool.
    More secrets... I love the fact of being possible to discover something new every time I play the game and advance through the ng(+X), like the pendant for example... It probably doesn't do anything at all but kept us all digging into it...

    I want it to be called Dragon Souls

    And I'd like some more secrets/lore too... maybe a better reward system with covenants

    (And I want dragons, of course)

    Defiled Souls would be my name pick. It just fits the vibe that From like to make.

    Anyways... I'd love to see more weapon types, like poles, thrust/slash not slash/thrust swords, weapons that you HAVE to 2 hand and weapons that you cant two hand...

    Most of all I'd love to see more balance in weapons. Anything can be good if used right IN PvP. In PvE you can finish NG with a +15 battleaxe easily, but in PvP you'll get your *** handed to ya.

    Bring back making spells from boss souls and perhaps develop the magic types a bit (im looking at pyro mostly)

    Also, more innovation in bosses and levels, when I played Dark not having done demons I thought it was amazing and original, but then I played demons and noticed that a lot was similar to Demons. I'd love some original ideas to come through next game with that.

    I'm liking alot of these ideas already happy

    I would have to go with either Damned or Dragon though, I tend to attribute defile with sexual conertations which I would rather avoid if possible, I've always felt the lack of sexual monsters to be a major plus to this series. Plus I really like dragons!

    I feel that the pvp needs fixing, lag makes the game pretty unplayable for me. Meaning I avoid a huge part of the game.

    Also, bring back the ability to step over inch high obstacles from DS's as getting caught on a tiny thing you can even see because your character blocks it from view is not a fun thing.

    Make the jump function differently. Making a jump instead of dodging is frustrating as well and makes playing fast characters unusually hard.

    Make ninjas more playable!

    A Plot! Demon Souls was interesting to watch my housemate play as the plot gave me an invested interest in the people. Dark Souls as boring as mud and I looked forward to getting everything out of a character just so I could remove their existence from my game world. Except Solaire, he was good big grin

    ......Defile is not the word for what you're thinking silly

    besides it's perfect for the souls series, its just a word beginning with D that can mean corrupted or tainted.

    I'm pretty sure FROM had no qualms calling somewhere the "Valley of Defilement" too silly

    I'd have to disagree on the plot thing though. They had a plot in Demons, it wasn't great. It was messy, made little sense and was explained poorly in my opinion. Also to add to that, the ending just makes you go... what? Rather than bringing clarity, it instead disappointed me in all honesty :|

    To me, the mysterious world approach where you yourself have to gather the knowledge of the land and piece it together is something that both sets it apart from other games and improves upon the bleak setting that made the game so atmospheric.

    You know what would be great too? With the imporvements that we could see in
    DkS from DS ... What if the could bring world tendencies back?
    That wouls add more "replayability" value.

    I think with the World tendency thing, it made attaining rare things into a chore similar to farming than more enjoyable things like exploration and optional boss killing

    What about damage scaling? Up the scale and you can get more xp at higher risk?

    My name DAMNED SOULS

    I would add more weapons and armor and I would combine certain stats (like Endurance and resistance) and I would remove the attunement stat and instead everyone starts out with 4 or 5 magic slots

    Increase casting time of all magic so that it is harder spam spells

    I would like it if the higher your strength and dexterity you actually speed up your swing speed (ex if I have 50 strength I should be able to swing my claymore faster than someone with 20 strength)

    for the ability to aim cross bows and more bolt/ arrow types

    Now that sounds like a good idea.... maybe so we can both be happy how you can do souls arrows instantly at high int and the spell has a cool down maybe?

    Basically I would like to see a wider range of builds besides the regular melee builds. I want to see more viable options so instead of Rock/Paper/Scissors (build wise) it's more Rock/Paper/Scissors/Lizard/Spock.

    cast time is why mages were almost useless in pvp in ds. if anything its much better in dks

    Anyways, I want servers. And my blessed gaxe back. stupid things worthless in dks.

    I'm enjoying the reference, but it's also kinda apt. I would like to see lots of variation, but as well as that Viability in variation, rather than meaning builds that 'break the mould' are actually as good as the more standard builds.

    Ohh an arena mode where you can just load into for pvp and not have to hope you randomly load into one!

    I suppose in some ways I would like to see some more benefits/detriments to using particular weapons. Some weapons, say shortswords, just don't seem as useful as either knives or greatswords, if there were more profound benefits/detriments to each weapon type, perhaps that could be resolved a little bit?

    that ruins the point of PvP. It's not meant to be organised so that PvE is a safe haven while human and you can hide behind your summons and let the kill the boss for you. Invasions are primarily to ruin a guy's run in a level. Not for duelling.

    That's why I think it would be bad for the overall spirit of the game to have separate PvP to be honest, it's meant to be random and unwanted. It's called 'invasion' after all

    This isnt an mmo. it doesn't fit the atmosphere they're going for either. Probably wont happen.

    Though the rss not working if the summoner has phantoms would be nice too.

    Yeah, I agree. Implementing more standard multi-player functionality kind of ruins the uniqueness of the souls series. The invasion/co-op stuff and how it is implemented is flat out awesome.

    yeah but it screws me out of dmb.

    So new thing i guess, assuming covenants come back, balance them properly. legitimate rewards for joining each while (if possible) keeping the rewards usefully for multiple builds or allowing players to choose a reward that fits their build.

    ah thats a point i missed out on my post. Agreed and i think FROM probably will after the success of the covenant system use it again and flesh it out a little so it has more bearing on the game as a whole.

    It's got a lot of potential for sure.
