Sometimes after losing a match, before the screen loads, I've seen people drop a few sparkly items on the ground. They are not there in 'my' world when I return. I have no idea what it could be. What's that all about?

They're prism stones, usually when I duel I make a big circle with them to make a makeshift sparkly glowing arena. I love dropping those things all over, especially the pink ones. I'm a very heterosexual male.

Oh, ok. Strange, never would've thought that.
Almost thought it was poopy dung piles people were throwing at my corpse, hahaha.

Throwing dung pies on fallen enemies? That would be interesting, I'd call such a person a regular Spacker Le Chuck.

Re: After losing a duel...
Prism stones are up there in taunts along side "well what is this" Because I have only ever seen GROUPs of people dropping them. I try not to get frustrated through being killed by famers but watching a stone fall over my corpse and 2 golden lackey's behind the host dancing like monkeys really makes me grit my teeth.
You will get about 20 of them in the dukes archives, I think they are meant to be used to find your way through dark places like tomb of giants or invisible walk ways in the crystal caves.

They are used as markers to help you in understanding pathing, as well they can tell you if you can survive a fall or not.

I got invaded in Anor Londo. He let me live, so I summon phantoms. He duels each phantom that I summoned and after every win he dropped a prism stone. There were like 20 glowing balls all over the room.

I get it now. I do know what the prism stones are, I just never saw them as a taunt before. Great.

Taunting with pretty colored and sparkly stones... you're doing it wrong
I always thought they were counting how many kills, which is a bit different from taunting.

I remember trying this on some dark pit in Sen's. I thought it was safe to jump there since I heard only a small sound and the stone was still clearly visible and not far away from me. Well, I thought it was okay so I jumped. During the "YOU DIED" screen I saw how the prism stone was stuck in the wall. And the hole was just a random death trap.
