Advice for Great Scythe build Empty Advice for Great Scythe build

Post by Wisp Sat Mar 24, 2012 8:06 pm

    The main question i want to ask is this;

    Is it worth buffing?

Previously i've used buffs on fast weapons, butt the great scythe isn't all that quick (not slow, mind). Its base damage is pretty good as it is. i find it lends itself to a fairly patient style of play and so i guess the buff would run out before i've made much use of it. what do peopler think?

Any other general advice you can givew for the great scythe build, other than the awesome 2 handed moveset.

its worth buffing, you can kill anyone with two or three hits, even without the buff it still puts out good damage. go for it dude.

bring dex to 40 and 30 faith, go with slb, dmb is good but most people have a higher res to magic.

By the way it's easy to parry. I parry them all the time. Be careful.

Sunlight Blade on the Great Scythe does phenomenal damage. If I'm having an off day and worried about losing tons of souls I'll use it on the Four Kings and not have a worry.

what blood said, its better to go with dead angles since people cant parry them. that's actually the best thing about the great scythe.

ah, thanks for the advice guys. one hande R1 is better for dead-angles?

    Starting with Cleric: SL 120

    Vitality 45
    Attunement 14
    Endurance 40
    Strength 14
    Dexterity 40
    Resistance
    Intelligence
    Faith 30

Looking good? With either a ricards rapiers/estoc or pyro glove as a RH2

    blood - good to know.

G - you have those dead angles down pretty well. We need to fight more often, so I can get practice defending against them (and knowing when to parry).

Wisp - Why the Att of 14? Are you going to have both DMB and SLB buffs? Otherwise, looks good. An alternate would be to lower Vit to 40 and End to 35, and put the stats into Faith. You would be trading Vit for Power.

3 slots assuming i use pyro glove as back up weapon: SB, WOtG, Great Combustion. Endurance is really important for the scythe i find. And apparently it's most efficient to have 30 or 50 faith, and you get good returns on vit up to 45. and the scythe is pretty powerful without the buff anyway.

Ah, I see. The Scythe does eat up the endurance, for sure.

I haven't heard of the 30 or 50 faith argument. Can you explain?

Canvas talisman gives best power at 30, with diminishing returns from there onwards. Darkmoon talisman has best power at 50, with diminishing returns on wards from there.

what he said, its either 30 or 50 faith, going from 30 to 35 which a lot of people go with 35 is a waste.

It really eats away your stamina. So u really need to know how much it eats and calculate. Also has a A-scaling on dex D-str if its upgraded +15

I always use grass shield on back. Never use shield only for stamina. Or a better shield with cloranty ring to keep your stamina regen high

My own preference is to run with 56 poise, so I can't get stunlocked by kats, muras, and clays (well, if I don't get hit twice that is). Havel's leggings and gauntlets come to exactly 56, very convenient.

Havel's look horrible though. But if 56 poise is a sweet spot i'll aim for that, wolf ring + something.
