Also, if you believe Dora from this episode dragons don't like fighting and will play nice if you lower your weapon. Anyone willing to try this on the bridge to confirm?

What's this world coming to?
I have noticed that two of the most epic games in recent memory (albeit for very different reasons) share a common problem. In both Dark Souls and Skyrim shields are given a handle only with no strap to further secure your hold. I had been willing to forgive this until tonight...when I noticed that, in one of my daughter's many viewings of Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom, that Dora the Explorer's shield got it right. Adding further insult is the sun emblem on the shield. Solaire can't have a correct shield but Dora can? Although her's is a kite shield so perhaps she has a correctly engineered Sanctus.

God I hope you're splitting that bill. That thing's gotta be able to chow at least 160 to 172 valu menu chilis. Which might explain the crankiness and fire breath.

Yay for you. Sounds like the time I fought the evil version of myself. We shot the **** and realised that we had a lot in common. I still see him every so often and he's doing well. Just got married in fact.
I hope you and the dragon work out.
On a more minor note perhaps some characters simply don't have to worry about breaking their wrists in Dark Souls especially when they carry weapons thrice their size and get stomped on by the most beastly fiends to grace the imaginations of game designers throughout the ages.

She's not that far off. Next time you cross the bridge to the Parish, try walking slowly instead of runningskarekrow13 wrote:Also, if you believe Dora from this episode dragons don't like fighting and will play nice if you lower your weapon. Anyone willing to try this on the bridge to confirm?

And the Dark Souls greatshield grip is AWFUL.
It looks like he's riding a horse!

Look into Dark Souls lore. All great shields were once horses transformed by a powerful horselord.

They must be enchanted to make wrists transform into Adamantium.

Re: What's this world coming to?
I actually noticed this when farming for the Stone Knight Greatshield. The Knights actually have the double strap when they hold it, but when you put it on your character, the second one around the forearm is gone. I actually thought at one point that there seemed to be something around where it had been when you held it that made it look like it was ripped out somehow, but wrote that off as part of my imagination since I couldn't get myself to see it again lol.
I guess the single strap is just to justify how quickly your character can put the shield away into hammerspace to pull out your secondary left-handed item? With two straps that would probably be a more lengthy process :|

^ sacrificing accuracy for sake of an already impossible event being ever so slighly less impossible? Seems legit.

And to be fair the buckler can be considered accurate as they would typically only have one or the other.

Can we count Gaping Dragon as well? Isn't he just a dragon with a deformity?

Re: What's this world coming to?
Lol. Yes Gaping is. And yes....the bridge is haunted by a drake which is really From's way of saying that Gwyn lost his power (crown diminished, missing a lot of his soul, etc) and the dragons are long gone. Basically, you're a punk who wouldn't have stood a chance in that epic war scene at the beginning of the game and the only reason you win in the here and now is because everything is a wimp compared to the "good old days."
Although, if we're going there than Seath, besides being scaleless has MORE reason for an inferiority complex leading to betraying his kind. The drake sword suggests a DRAGON would be a lot bigger yet Seath is not. So he's scaless AND a runt. The Everlasting Dragon is kind of a runt then too I suppose......sigh.......maybe some day From will give us a "real" Dragon to fight (Dragon God doesn't count because you don't fight him but he was AWEXOME).

I always assumed that the Blue Drakes in the Valley of Drakes were normal drakes, and the Bridge Drake was some kind of "king drake" breed and was much bigger than the rest. In terms of size of dragons, the Everlasting Dragon certainly is still small if you compare it to Seath or the Undead Dragons (you have to remember we only see the Undead Dragons at half-size, their full size would be a front+back together).

"Go ahead, try and hit me bro! I've got my shield up!"
Morgan Freeman-"And then the penguin with a shield had it's area of its wing similar to a wrist broken by the sea lion with a sword. It was then devoured, but the march went on. The others tried to put his mistake behind them as they continued their solemn journey."

Re: What's this world coming to?
another thin bout the undead dragons is that they r scaless too coz in war ther scales were ripped from their body so its like with yr player you look 2x the size with havels on so an undead dragon would be bigger with scales

Re: What's this world coming to?
Ummm... Sorry if that's a stupid question, but you have to explain this to an alien like me...
What is the difference between a dragon and a drake?
I can't find any difference(s) in terms of physical characteristics or whatever...

Re: What's this world coming to?
I've looked it up a bit now and I found so many different explanations/oppinions.
Some simply say drakes are just younger/smaller/weaker dragons, some say drakes are dragons that have no wings, some say drakes do have wings but have no front legs, more like a bird, while dragons are more like reptilians (with wings),...

Re: What's this world coming to?
i think if you look in the drake sword descriptio it shoul explain it but basically dragons in drs are immoral beings that came from before the advent of fire and were coated with the scales of immortality n on the other hand drakes are or might be their cousins, ther like big lizards they have simular features but are different in many ways e.g no scales of immortality n different body shape...drakes are creatures that copied dragons

Well, ok, every fantasy game/film/book or myth/tale or whatsoever might have its own... definition... but I thought maybe there's also a generally valid definition... or so...

Re: What's this world coming to?
I think the moral of this story can be summarised thus: Do not mess with Dora the Explorer. She will END YOU.
