Right now I am learning to get out of my comfort zone more, use my same setup always, been loosing to many people and it seems I got too comfortable and cocky with my gear
and style, can't stay using one style always...exciting also and keeps one less bored to explore more options.

By the way a quick little trick in case someone hasn't already posted it here. You'll notice some people love to spam R1 when attacking, there are many ways to deal with these people. One of my favourites is blocking the first hit then parrying the second, you can get the timing down easily if they are just mashing especially if they are using a weapon which can hit through your shield. They'll more often than not be trying to slowly hit you through it, so you can just parry as they go for the second hit. Don't forget, with lag you want to parry before you see them actually swing, it is kind of like leading a target in a shooter. You have to know where they are going to be, and when they are about to strike.

Excellent, another thing...Practice with friends and people from the community it will give you a chance to deal with 1v1 diversity and be able to ask their input. You can test weapons
on them and alot of things related to the game.

This one comes from meeting Joocy he and I spared and he tested some things on me yesterday but I learned alot from him so help others because it will most of the time help you and well it's always good to help right?

    Thanks to Joocy.

Enjoy PvP. If you don't enjoy it you shouldn't be playing it, will only lead to frustration and more mistakes

If they're running towards you, assume either 2 things. One, he will do a running attack, which is advisable to parry, or two, he will try to backstab.

Unless its a great scythe. Don't try to parry a great scythe. Dodge forward an to the left to get under the running attack. if you timed it right you can even roll bs them for it.

Some thoughts for those just starting out in pvp, particularly those who like myself may not be pvp naturals.

    1) Get your mind right. It's easy (at least it was for me) to start thinking of yourself as a victim when you first get into the game and into pvp; worried about the invader, assuming they have much better skill and gear, and inevitably getting killed because you're almost resigned to it. It took me a while to shed that mentality, but now I look forward to matches because I have a good chance of winning - or so I always tell myself. Having a positive outlook seems cliched, but it will keep you calm and on the offensive even if you are getting destroyed by a 3v1 or drop a string of matches. Anybody can kill anybody in this game as long as you don't mentally surrender before the fight is actually held.

    2) Practice on mobs. I don't mean the basics, although that's necessary at first, but many of the spells and weapons you'll run into in pvp are already in play via mobs, letting you basically practice on them all you want. For example, when I first got into pvp I spent a fair amount of time playing around with Havel just because his dragon's tooth is pretty representative of a lot of the 2hd club weapons you'll run into, so it forces you to learn to dodge and how to roll through the attack patterns. When I wanted to really learn to dodge spells, I spent time playing footsie with the walking soul arrow battery channelers in the archives. The basics of parrying and backstabs can be picked up the same way. Human players will necessarily be faster, more inventive, and more dangerous with any spell or weapon, but they still cannot change the basic mechanics of them. If you have practiced against them, that will help a lot.

    3) Watch pvp videos. I am constantly learning new things from videos, even little things like where a darkwraith might appear in a given level so I'm less likely to be ambushed, or how two types of weapons or spells interact. You will get new ideas, and be less likely to be surprised by things you see live in game. The first pvp backstab I ever landed was one based on a video I saw, where the guy explained how to ninja roll into the ninja roll of another such that you had a good shot at ending up behind them. Videos really do help.

    4) Just dive right in! Getting your first pvp victory can feel like losing your virginity -- a nerve wracking experience that seems like it may never happen and then when it does it probably involves awkward flailing, flash sweat, not nearly enough poise, an abrupt ending, and then you never see the other person ever again. Dammit Emily, I- uh, where was I. Oh right -- once you get past that, it'll start to go a lot better and you'll also enjoy it a lot more. Praise the sun!

    ..............................Disturbing.

be ready for anything. You can never know everything but being prepared having flexible tactics goes a really long ways.

Never use all of your tricks at once. Doing unexpected things will win many fights as the opponent has no reason to expect the pivot bs if you haven't tried it yet in your 5 minute fight.

Learn to read your opponent. Be able to predict his moves and punish him for it.

PvP is addictive . . . enter at your own risk.

Not as well anymore. Fighting locked off is more random since you aren't strafing and your front isn't always facing me.

Really? Every Great Scythe user I met has met their untimely demise of getting parried. Unless, of course, dead angles.

It depends on your build but if you have enough to use WOG then I like to dance around a little bit get their confidence up so they'll both attack together then just as they are both about to strike hit them with it. If they're wearing heavy armor then bonus since you'll get to spam it at least twice before they fall down but don't spam it too fast wait about 0.5 seconds before the second cast or you'll waste it.

If you can't use WOG then use the environment to your advantage if your in the forest try fighting close to an edge, if your in the Kiln bait them to the black knights so you can pick them off one at a time. Plus pay attention to what armor they are wearing if one of them is moving slowly then try luring the faster one away from their help.

Sorry I don't have time to read everything now, but I will later and edit this one:

You can avoid Moonlight greatsword R2 magic attacks by rolling through it, just like moonlight butterfly or Seath attacks

Force and dragon roar can deflect spells/arrows. Not sure about WoG

Check the PVP builds section in the Wiki. Some of them are really fun!

If possible, try to get rid of the shield. Rollling and parrying is aways the best option. If you are not good at parrying, remember you can aways put the grass shield and use your weapon two handed.

Again sorry if you guys already posted this, later I will edit it.

This is the only advice i can give to both new and pro players. And some of you allready know what im going to say... PATIENCE is everything. Wether it be you gettung beatup mid-fight or you just lost your 19288932829101th fight you allways need to take your time and be patient. Heres a few pointers.

Block often: No i don't mean hide behind a shield and poke at people. but use your sheild as a guard post to observe your enemy and look for patterns that you can capitalize on.

Know your craft: Before you seriously competitively pvp find out what type of weapon your good with weather it be great sword, straight sword, magic, etc and when it comes to armour what are you best with? big tank armor or small nimble armour so you can move fast? Find what your best with and stick to it and never give up and again BE PATIENT.

Dont complain: I know that people with dwgr can be a pain because their entire flip is an invincibility frame yes ive complained before about it but what did that solve? nothing. and everybody was still fliping all over the place and useing it So this kind of leads back to my first point, block often and look for a pattern that you can capatalize on with your weapon armour and stats weather it be against grain wood users or tanks or both (we've all seen those tank flippers)

Never give up: Your almost dead? So what? Nows your time to be more cautions because your enemy is going to be either spamming attacks at you (which will leave him vulnerable at times) to try to finish the match or hes going to expect you to be attacking at him constantly switch up your style never be predictable.

Have fun: Stay optimistic never get down when you lose or cocky when you win, both of these moods messes with your play style.

even though stats and equips don't matter watch out for being stun locked so make sure you equip the right armor with enough poise to prevent yourself from being stun locked so if you're gonna take some hits which is also another part on pvping, you will always get scratched and if you gotta take a hit, then take it but don't lose your cool and start burning away your stamina and also always, ALWAYS keep your distance with your enemy if your stamina is low.

Charges. (sprinting towards the player or them sprinting towards you)

There are numerous variables determining when and how to charge but its NEVER safe, for either party.

Untill you have a lot of dueling experience and have fought your opponent for a bit i cant recommend charging and i'd back roll away from any charge they make. Both parties are very vulnerable to bs during a charge situation and it is a high stakes rock paper scissors game that decides what happens.

Treat it like parring, practice with friends if possible, it saves time and pain.
