Ethics in the Forest Empty Ethics in the Forest

Post by PastaOfDoom Wed Mar 21, 2012 9:37 am

So I've heard a lot of conflicting information over ethics, especially in the forest. As I am participating in the Gravelord event, I'm curious what the generally accepted tactics are. For example, if I'm being double teamed by invaders who try to lure me toward NPCs, I generally don't care if I have to heal a few times. However, is there any general consensus? Is it just "it's the forest, ethics go out the window"? Any help would be appreciated.

    "Forest"
    "Ethics"

    Look Skyward

I think I summed it up well.

If you want ethics go to the kiln. The forest is "anything goes".

Kill anyone dumb enough to fight you. Unfortunately thats the only way to survive there.

If an invader bows, from a distance, I bow back. Not a good idea to bow to hosts though, the "sunbro" you cant see will bs you.

There's a group of us Forest Hunters trying to bring some ethics to the forest but the reality is grim at the moment (hence the event). Once you have confirmation that someone is doing something less than honorable the general consensus is all rulebooks get burnt to a crisp. I avoid backstabs like the plague but murdered a phantom in the forest last night who was helping the host try to 2v1 another guy. Never saw it coming. Then we 2v1ed the host. Like I said, they showed no ethics and we returned the favor. However, also last night I had about ten duels in the forest in about an hour (an exceptionally high amount). I made sure to bow every time I did recon and saw only a host (from a distance).

The forest lends itself to "creative" ethics. For instance, I had a person trying to lure me into Alvina's room to stun lock me. Rather than fall for it I pulled out a bow and two handed it to show him "you might wanna come outta there." In another instance I was dueling a host and winning and he started backing to the stairs (where the fight had not been to this point) and looks like he was looking for a white or gold sign. I changed my offhand weapon to a talisman and did WoG from a distance to say to him "don't make me force the issue" of fair fights. Lol.....he actually did the exact same thing from a distance and we returned to dueling.

It's pretty much anything goes. Don't trust anyone. However, if I'm invading and notice a 1v1 fight I'll wait on the sideline until the host is done.

In forest everything goes as tolvo once said "Dark Root Forest nowhere will you find a more wretched hive of scum and farmers"-Tolvo (again I might have paraphrased a littlebit)

Anything goes like alot of posts above me say, and thats the great thing about the forest.
If i get gangbanged 2v1 i use all my dirty tricks i can pull off, but if i see a host alone and he bows i try to do a fair 1v1.
But to be sure i always am stocked up on lloyd's to stop them from healing.
Also if people try to lure you to a spot expect a phantom or something in chameleon.
Hate those damn bush people, they got me by suprise a couple of times lol.
If i invade some guy who i met before and know is a banger i try to turn the tables and bang them with another hunter.
So every situation is a bit different for me, but still i think its the best place to pvp.
I just love the forest even if i keep getting killed all night, that 1 kill i get in the end just keeps me getting back to it.

I like to host in the forest alone. I just sit on the small bridge near Alvina with full full havels and greatshield, where my dragon greatsword and dragon king greataxe can be used to full advantage. No backstabbing for anyone. happy

Mildred you should have a golden quote book...That is very true, everyone carries his own
ethics around wherever they go or whichever covenant they belong to, which is one thing that has been discussed much also, this covenant is this and this one is that, we can't condemn everyone for the actions of some.

I usually say anything goes, but only when fighting farmers. If i see a host with no phantom, and i have another forest hunter with me, i usually back off and let them have a 1v1. Then if my comrade dies, i will step in, bow, and duel.

    Oh god, I'm being quoted.

My view is merely treat others how you wish to be treated. But if they are going for a gang bang or trying to BS fish you, punish the hell out of them. I bow to people in the forest, I don't BS, I love to duel there. But as soon as I notice anything out of the ordinary, Murakumo Stunlock time.

I personally let those who are going through for PvE purposes past, I have no qualm with them. I also test people to see if they are seeking a PvP fight or are actually using summons to head for Sif. But, if I see anything nasty on their behalf, I'll unleash the beast and use every trick I have up my sleeve. That includes Power Within Gargoyle Halberd Hornet Ring instant Kills. 3k+ damage, haha.
