    Lautrec in the Depths?

Post by Rynoa on Mon Mar 19, 2012 8:06 am

So I was going for the Gaping Dragon in my NG+ co-oping with a friend, and I decided to summon Solaire to help too. But insted of his summon sign I found the one for Knight Lautrec. I was baffled, I didn't even know I could summon him to help (why the hell should he help me, anyway?? I almost thought he was going to backstab me during the boss fight. Or maybe lagstab me 8) ).
I tried to think about it but I don't understand what I did differently in NG+ to get Lautrec instead of Solaire.
I also helped a lot of people fighting the Gaping Dragon and ALL of them summoned Solaire!

Actually, I don't remeber in my first playthrough which sign I saw, because I didn't summon any NPC.
This is what I did: I freed Lautrec in Undead Parish and talked to him a couple of times in Firelink. I don't remember if when I went to the Depths he already killed my fire keeper.

Yeah I know I should probably kill him as soon as I meet him, but I actually enjoy slaughtering him and his friends in Anor Londo

My first fights with the Gargoyles and Gaping I only summoned Solaire, because for Gargoyles I wasn't aware Lautrecs sign was there and for Gaping I thought you could only have one NPC helper.

Maybe you looked in the wrong spot? Did you actually speak to Solair in the burg to trigger his storyline?

I did talk to him (how could I not? )
I was looking for his sign in the same spot where I saw him appear while I was co-oping.
Uhm, just before the last set of stairs before the dragon, at the side.

Edit: Lautrec was just beyond the same set of stairs, hidden behind a pillar if I remember correctly.

solaire seems to be not too reliable. had issues with him in anor londo before the boss fight. his sign was there on my first attempt, not there on my second, there again on my third. maybe teh same in the depth. sometimes there, sometimes not. kind of glitch, i suppose.

Did you quit/reload the game to see if solaire's sign would appear?
my best guess is that at some point you broke his storyline or something

Uhm, nope I didn't think about quitting and reloading, plus I already summoned another player to co-op with me, it wouldn't be very nice of me to quit. happy
Now I guess I have to wait and see if I can find/summon him in Anor londo. I don't think I did anything to break his storyline... So probably it's just like what happened to LittleLuden.

Has anybody attempted to summon both Solaire and Lautrec in the Depths or Parish? Is it possible?

Had this happen on my latest toon. Solaire's wasn't there, but Lautrec's was even though I didn't do anything different from the last playthroughs. I thought it was weird.

hmm, you're right, if you had a ghost summoned that would not be polite...

you have to talk to him in the end of the red dragon bridge to 'activate' him and the 1st place you can summon him is before the fog door where you fight the bell gargoyles

In The Depths Lautrec's sign is behind the pillar where you find Solaire's sign.

I unequipped my weapons and summoned them both for the Gargoyles to see how they'd do. I barely had to dodge they were so badass. Wasn't about to try it in The Depths, though. Not with Solaire's performance issues vs. Gaping Dragon.

yeah, it's hidden from where you're coming from, you need to get past the stairs without going down and circle the pillar to see it happy

It does indeed. I have summoned them both for both fights a bunch of times.

you must talk to him in firelink after you free him and ofcourse before killing the gargoyles
that way his sign will be available for the gargoyles fight

Ok guys, I just did the Gaping Dragon AGAIN and again no Solaire and yes Lautrec.
I'm sure there was a sunbro summon sign near the spot where Solaire spawns, but as soon as I summoned Lautrec it was gone so I don't know if it was actually Solaire or another player. I think it was a bit too far from the stairs so my guess is it wasn't Solaire, but we will never know because it disappeared immediately XD
So now it's been 2 times out of 3. Solaire doesn't love me anymore. Prayer

I often summon them both on low level characters. I drop down behind the butcher, ignore the big rat and slide down the shortcut to the boss area. I summon both and pull them back into the level, and then make them kill everything, kirk, the big rat, the channeler and all the curse frogs, while I'm hanging back and watching big grin They are mostly useless against gaping dragon anyway, and will only make it a harder fight.

Didn't realize that you could summon him in the Depths, I know you can summon Lautrec and Solaire for the Gargoyles.

I wish you could summon Lautrec for O&S if you don't invade him and it costs you the black eye orb or something. It would make the fight a bit easier while eliminating the firelink bonfire for the rest of the playthrough
