New to Demon's (Scond attempt at the game)

Post by ViralEnsign_ on Sun Mar 18, 2012 12:00 am

I just got Demon's yesterday and I'm looking for some one to co op with me through the early parts of the game. I'm SL 22 and have beaten the Tower Knight and Phalanx but am having trouble with the Armour Spider and Shrine of storms.

Also any advice ad to how to build a dual kat build with buffs and such is welcome as I don't understand the who magic and miracles system of Demon's.

I wish to have Light Weapon, Cursed Weapons, and Second Chance at least.

Ty for the advice in advance.

Hey viral, I can't play until tomorrow in the evening, but I am always up for some co-op in demons happy

If you want to use magic and miracles I would suggest using the talisman of beasts, which you can get in many ways thoughout the game, the easiest-- and least aggresive being bringing a sword from 2-3 dragon god area to a NPC in 2-2 while having a pure white world tendency.

I have never really been a katana user but you might want to upgrade them as sharp stone or with marrow stone to add bleeding or critical bonus (someone correct me if I am wrong, playing off year old memory here).

Also, to get those spells you will need to finish lartia and shrine of storms to get the two teachers, and I think you will have to choose either Light or cursed, as two different teachers have those spells and want the same souls.

Light weapon adds only magic damage. (needs atleast 15 intel)
Cursed weapon doubles the attack stat, but slowly lowers your hp. You can negate this effect with a ring or the spell regeneration. (needs at least 18 intel)
and for second chance you could use the ring of devout prayer to get your spell slot or you could pump faith to 16.. I think.

Faith build. Ring of regeneration+ adjucators shield+ blessed weapon= 18 hp/second. And the blessed gaxe is all the damage you'll ever need. 2-3 shot any phantom and staggers bosses allowing for more attacks.

Just an example but demons is a very different place. The 'buff or die horribly' thing doesn't apply to demons.

I'm pretty sure the class that benefited the most from dual katanas were Int builds, people put +5 Darkmoonstone on one and +4 on the other since the MP regeneration stacked that way. There are no limits to casts so as long as you have MP you can cast spells as much as you want. I never played a faith build on Demon's so i'm not sure how great they are or what upgrade path to take.

This is the wiki that I used for Demon Souls:

    http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/

It has PvP builds on there, it goes into depth on pretty much everything.

I'm fairly sure faintstones are the upgrade path you should take with a faith build. I guess you could dual wield 2 katanas with faintstone upgrade assuming the HP regeneration still stacks the same as it does for MP regeneration.

Nope. most dex weapons cant be blessed. and whatever the int thing is cant go on most str weapons. but the regen does stack but the adjucators shield on the back regens hp faster. Add the regeneration miriacle and its 33hp/second for 90 seconds (I think), add second chance and you essentially have 2 18-33hp/second regenerating lives. Faith builds in demons are all about attrition. Never ever die while chipping at their health untill they do. Faith build vs faith build fights take forever and a day though.

Casters cant stack regen anywhere near as well, i'd just carry spice.

You can also carry grass shrugs, makes either regeneration quite pointless.

Nope. Grass takes time, and demons is faster pased. if i can not be hit for 10 seconds ( which is common as dodging is easier) i'll regenerate either 180 or 330 health, completely negating all but the heaviest weapon hits. This forces them to attack hard and fast, if they back off, esp to grass (which takes a second so they need real distance or they'll get bsed), i'll just regenerate all the damage they did and a simple throwing knife will stuff their grass attempt. It means they have to play by your rules. which makes them predictable.

I'm not trying to undermine you. I just played TONS of demons and 80% of that was faith builds.

I always thought the health regeneration was pretty cheap, but I just ate grass if that was their build. I never found it difficult to keep a large amount of grass in stock but I hardly used it unless the other person did. When I started playing Demon Souls for the first time in forever I found out people just duped everything so essentially everyone has infinite grass, that's why I said it was pointless.

^ Guilty of this. Man after putting something like 300 hours into this game or more I just can't bring myself to farm spice or stones or grass.

But I make a point of not using grass in pvp just like I don't in dark souls. Even if my opponent heals. Since I never invade due to the level and Character tendency shift in demons. I just don't think I have as much to lose as an invader does. Never started duping until like NG+++ though. Still feel dirty for doing it, but my people they need me.

Again, grass takes time. passive stacked health regen isn't pointless as i can regen thousands of hp in a long fight without ever touching grass, and tag you with a throwing knife when you try to grass. cant stop passive health regen. I don't care wether or not you find it cheap, but its far from pointless. If anything, that its good enough to be called cheap shows that it highly effective, so not pointless.

You arguments nullify each other. I never used that glitch btw. knew where to farm everything anyways.

@ yukon, the demons meta permits/encourages healing as both side can heal at the same speed and the invader doesn't have anything to lose.... You can play how you want but i figured i'd let you know.

I am aware of that pirate, but something about stuffing ill-gotten grass into my cheating face feels bad in PVP, that and since I have always been to cowardly of losing a level or getting black character tendency to be a red phantom I am kind of reluctant to have a salad while fighting.

Suprisingly few invaders seem to heal when they notice me doing this. Or atleast, they used to. It's been ages since I PvP'd in demons souls.

Yeah. Might go back. I think i like it better. Not just for nostalgia either, i think its better balanced as well. the basics were fair across the board.

Str: slow/long range or fast/short range, average health, massive damage.
Dex: fast, mid/long reach, mid/high damage, average health
Int: slow, extremely high damage, squishy
Northern regalia: mid/short reach, mid damage, tons of health
Blue blood sword: high burst damage, fast, squishy
Dex/int: fast, versatile, long reach, high damage, very squishy
Str/faith: low/mid damage, slow/long reach or fast/short reach, average health, stacked hp regen.

Strengths and weaknesses across the board and no (essentially) mandatory equipment. heals and throwing daggers to stop healing were the only essentials.

lol, i think it means you can push someone then combo them.

You just have to take advantage of the fact there is no poise. If a guy is sloppy you can combo him to death with enough stamina.

toggle out and crush their pushlocking face with your weapon of choice. The pushlock is actually tough to score. push has short range. take 5 or 6 hits to kill them with it to, so escapeing isnt terribly hard.

The best way to beat the Armour Spider is a long range attack either with a bow and/or soul arrows. It's a while since I played Demon's but if I remember correctly there is a place on the left hand side of the tunnel where you fight him which is a good sniper spot. You'll maybe get webbed a few times but his fireball attacks will not be able to hit you unless your very unlucky or are not in the right place. Just keep your health up and time your shots and you'll be fine.

not if they have poise, and if they don't have poise in dks, its not necessary
