Ok, I started a new character as a mage. I was breezing through the mines, with 20 vitality (which is what all my toons have) until I get to the dragon god. I dont know what has happened, but the fight seems messed up compared to my previous characters He's instakilling me even though my other chgaracters had the same health and only last about half health, and his punch is going where it shouldnt - so I have no idea on how to dodge it. What's going on?

How do you mean by his punch is going where it shouldn't? Is it glitching through pillars, etc.? Normally, the best way to do it is to not get seen. If your a mage, the soul arrow spell will destroy the barricades in the way, so you need not leave your cover to destroy them.

Yeah, Im getting flattened through pillars and his punches seem to track me. If this is what the boss fight is actually like then I must have been lucky as hell with my other characters.

Hmm, I have never gotten that far in Demon Souls (always been too scared, only recently beat the flamelurker). Just to confirm, you are using the pillars to prevent him from seeing you correct?

I've had that happen in the past and it is a pain. Are you using the thief's ring? That can help. Sprint up and hide behind the nearest pillar and be patient about the whole process - his eye color changes depending on whether he is tracking you or not. Re instakills, is your mage not wearing much armor?

Re: What am I doing wrong?
Im still wearing the default armour for the mage, and his eyes turn read when he's about to attack? I'll try speedrun him with the thief ring then.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
It's the same principle as making fire weapons in Dark Souls. The weapons scaling disappears and it gains flame damage. So really any one thing will be just good as anything else if you're good with it. I used a Dragon Guillotine Axe as my primary on my first Souls Series character ever. My build was extremely *** backwards because I didn't know what I was doing but the weapon itself was pretty effective.

I always make a dragon knight sword. Very versatile weapon, wide arc, piercing heavy attack, great stunlock 2-handed. For NG+ I usually make a dragon mirdan hammer.Wade_Wilson wrote:Related to this: what weapons are good if upgraded to dragon +5? Im still at a low level.
