PVP Monster Tank Build Empty PVP Monster Tank Build

    Post by mugenis4real Fri Mar 16, 2012 12:04 am

    Currently Testing:

    RightHand1-Dragon Greatsword+5/Dragon Tooth+5
    RightHand2-Stone Greatsword+5
    LeftHand1-Havel's Greatshield+5
    LeftHand2-Grass Crest Shield+15

Mask of the Mother/Mask of the Child
    Giant+5
    Giant+5
    Giant+5
    Ring of Favor and Protection
    Havel's Ring

    ===========================================================
    Starting Class: Bandit

    Level-120

    Vitality-52
    Attunement-8(Base)
    Endurance-40
    Strength-50
    Dexterity-18
    Resistance-11(Base
    Intelligence-8(Base)
    Faith-10(Base)

    RightHand1-Dragon King Greataxe+5
    RightHand2-Golem Axe+5
    LeftHand1-Havel's Greatshield+5
    LeftHand2-Grass Crest Shield+15

    Mask of the Father
    Giant+5
    Giant+5
    Giant+5
    Ring of Favor and Protection
    Wolf Ring

The whole point of the build is to utilize some of the heaviest power weapons in the game backed up by a huge health bar, super strong armor, and more poise than a titanium wall. Although if you didn't notice, I have 0 attunement slots and seeing as how I don't want to go over 120, I can't really get any. So I make up for it with weapon abilities. Thoughts, Ratings, Suggestions are all welcome.

Swap the wolf ring with DWGR and you'll be a flipping tank, lol.

@RantFromRant Now that you mention it I'm definitely considering Dragon Tooth just because of the Magic/Fire resistance boost, and although it's a little off the whole entire "weapons with powers" theme, a Lightning Demon Great Hammer sounds like a ton of fun lol

@WyrmHero Does the ring change the fat roll into the ninja flip? With the stuff my toon is decked out with right now I'm only just able to run =(

@ForumPirate The wiki doesn't tell me where to find the Great Club...

No it doesn't but it weighs a lot less than your other choices, combine that with ditching your secondary weapon all together and *possibly using the eagles shield instead of havels, and it should do it.

*Have a headache so i'm not doing the math.

mugenis4real wrote:Again with the weapons, what are your thoughts on the other ability weps(Stone Greatsword, Dragon Greatsword, etc)?

Give both the Dragon King Greataxe and the Greatsword a try, but depending on what area you are in you may want to swap between them since the Greataxe's special favors big open areas and the Greatsword's favors narrower/longer areas. I can say when I used them, the Greatsword was what I ended up going with about 7/10 times so you might benefit more from swapping the Axe for the Sword. In the end though it still comes down to personal preference and location as to which one is more effective for you.

EDIT: As to what someone said earlier about the Dragon's Tooth, it's definitely something to conisder since it actually has decent scaling to compliment your high investment in Strength. I hear it's buffable too so you can throw some Fire Resin on that to make you look all the more intimidating winking

Using the R2 attack from a Stone Greatsword is the same as TWOP, you could use it to immobilize your opponents so they can be as slow as you are in all that armor, lol.

Yea I think I'm going to go rejoin Path of the Dragon to get more scales so I can have the Dragon Greatsword and Dragon Tooth at +5 (unless someone wants to trade).
On a side note I feel mad dumb for not realizing you can cover the damn things in resin lol. Imma look sooooo awesome from now on, *giant exploding axe/sword covered in fire* 8)

Well often times people tend to run away from me after they get hit with the DKGA and then I switch over to my Golem Axe to kill them when they think they've run to a safe distance, but having them not able to run at all is a very nice thought twisted

3 Giant Armor i think you don't need Wolf Ring
    try Havel RIng or DWGR

    18 DEX why ?
all your weapon is STR weapon so 10 DEX is enough IMO big grin

    nice build btw

@Bito Well to be honest the DWGR is completely out of the question for this build because the gear I'm using will always be too heavy for me to get the ninja flip animation, but I am considering putting in Havel's Ring and switching out Mask of the Father for Mask of the Mother(or Child).

The 18 Dexterity was in case I felt like using the Black Knight Greataxe+5 or any of the other BK weapons, although now I feel like investing in Attunement instead of Dexterity would have been the smart thing to do since now I miss out on the damage bonus of Power Within sad

    Thanks. Sun

I am not an expert on strength builds, but this is the set-up that I use currently. This build is able to use the majority of strength weapons 1 handed and has enough endurance to equip heavier armor and the ring of FAP and DWGR for movement. The issue you will probably run into if you try to PVP with what you have currently is that everyone will just backstab you since you will not be that mobile. Some people hate flipping tanks, but it is a legitimate build.

Also, if you farm some mushroom men you can get some pine resin quickly. Fire adds no real damage, though it looks pretty cool.
