New weapon ideas
Lets think of new weapons FROM software could add to the game through DLC. I'll start it off.

staff, "A wooden staff capped at both ends with etched bronze, a relic from the far east this weapon is unusual for a blunt weapon due to its fast attacks and long range' give it a sped up lucerne moveset with no stagger, b dex scaling. find it in blighttown?
barbed chain: basically what the washing poll is to katanas but to whips, and str scaling at c or better. could be found on the return visit to the asylum.
demon worm mandible; half of the jaws of one of the demon worms in the demon ruins, has a curved swords moveset but scales with str.
Torch: a flaming stick, deals high fire damage with double e scaling.
blow gun; "used by the black snipers of blight town causes toxin build up but is not very strong." wields like a bow, but its a black tube. scales in e for both str and dex.
baton: pretty much a hand club that scales with dex and has no stagger animation.

the flail would be awesome but its too similar to the notched whip. and from the morning satr/mace animations i imagine it would suck for pvp, if you missed you would stagger for 5 secs.

This was my thought as well, seems like a glaring omission. And the trolling possibilities alone...

Though new weapons hmm I'd love for pole weapons as someone else said above, also a weapon that has both thrust and slash attacks, but R1 was thrust and slash was R2, if you get what i mean (cant be used for turtling) I'd love a weapon like that

Oh man, I spend a disproportionate amount of my day ruminating on bad-*** weapons for the next iteration. I did the same thing after Demon's Souls, and was impressed with the new kit in Dark Souls. Here's to the next one!
A Wizard's Staff. One-handed R1 is still cast, but has competent melee abilities, especially when two-handed, where it gets a full melee set in lieu of casting.
A sword that when held two-handed has L2 as a parry.
A reason to dual-wield:
1. Two axes of different damage types, that when equipped in left and right hands, and then two-handed, form a double headed axe (like soulbrandt/demonbrandt, but without blacksmithing)
2. Twin katanas with specific dual-wield moves. L2+R2 does the leaping cross slash that the black skeletons did in Demon's Souls
A dagger/sword that when two-handed doesn't actually two-hand the sword. Instead, it puts your shield on your back and makes you take a new stance (maybe flip the blade to hold it like the apprentice holds it in Star Wars Force Unleashed). It's "two-handed" moveset is now a mix of melee attacks (kicks?) and swordplay.
Magic/Lightning/Fire shields that can parry the corresponding magic projectiles back at the caster. Major risk/reward.
Serpent Shield: The shield is shaped from a spiral gold snake (tail outside, head inside). Its L2 attack uncoils the snake for a fast medium range strike that causes heavy poison. Uses durability.

A mask that when you two hand it you place it on your face, over your helm, and can headbutt people with your R1 attack. L1/2 Blocks with your chest in a manly fashion, and your R2 is a charge where if you contact with a target, any target it you throw them a decent length. Any target, Iron Golem you will fall on this day!

A dragon skull used as a shield with with high durability and a weakish L2 firebreath ability would be interesting.
An extra long sword (i.e the Penetrator from Demon Souls) would be interesting.
A anchor would be interesting.

I want to see a Naginata style weapon with the basic move set of the scythe, maybe a little faster, but with different R2 attacks. Specifically a two hit attack with a 45 degree area directly in front of you. It need a C scaling in Str and like all eastern weapons a B+ scaling in Dex.

Yeah like an ultra-uber-ultra greatsword. Think as tall as the character, and twice as wide.
Something that would require a ridiculous amount of strength to wield, to the point where you would 'have' to double hand it, but being that it would basically be a wall of metal, it could have quite a good defensive rating.

the bk halberd looks like a naginata and its r2 is sortof like what i've seen of naginata attacks, its r1 is the only thing thats wrong.

Does 999 base damage. S scaling in strenght. Requires 98 strength to use. Normal attack is a punch that instantly kills anything. Strong attack is a roundhouse kick that instantly kills anything twice. You get it by upgrading a fist weapon to +10 and using Chuck Norris' soul... so good luck.
