Interesting invasion glitch Empty Interesting invasion glitch

Post by dnatc Wed Mar 14, 2012 4:33 pm

So today I was stopping at the bonfire in the burg prior to heading to parish to fight the gargoyles and I was invaded, oddly enough it put a fog wall at the top of the ladder and also at the door in the bonfire room. So I waited, and waited, and I sent him a PSN message explaining that this wasn't going to work.

He never responded and when he finally came to the room below the red dragon bridge, he pyro'd and attacked fog door for almost twenty minutes before leaving the session.

Never seen this before, and it finally got me to quit lurking on these forums and post.

Also, I noticed today that at lvl 35 I found tons of summon signs for the bell gargoyles and Capra Demon as well as invasions. Mostly Japanese players (I assume from usernames/time of day), but it seems ppl are much higher lvl that the jolly co-op guide suggests.

Ha thats a cool glitch, thanks for posting and welcome to the forums.

The co-op guide is just that, a guide. If you were 35 your helpers could have been as low as lvl 23 or as high as 47.

As Mildred said, that is really interesting, never heard of such a thing happening before.

you were trapped in the bonfire area? i've had this happen before but with no invader just the "hmm maybe i'll send an invader here" fog door. I just quit and reloaded and all was fine...

It happened to me once too and in this same place. I was locked there while the other player, a japanese player, was on the other side trying to reach me. Then when he returned I asked him what was that and he responded a bug maybe? so yeah, it was probably a bad timed invasion.

Yes, this is a known feature (personally I think it's too cool to call it a bug). You can experience it either approaching from the burg side, or if you time going through the door above the ladder such that the fog gate blocking that doorway appears behind you. You basically end up getting locked into the bonfire room and protected in either direction by the fog gates. There seems to be a 3-4 second window in the early part of an attempted invasion when you can basically run in front of fog gates, the trick is that you don't know when that window is because it obviously precedes not only the invasion msg, but the fog gates. For giggles I sometimes just run in and out of that bonfire until it happens, you can get it to work relatively often if you use the dried finger.

It happens to me a lot!
Actually the first time ever I got "almost" invaded was like that, and I was "holy s**t, what is happening? I'm trapped in the bonfire room and cannot rest, cannot leave, and no messages of invasion!".

Today I was shooting arrows at the red dragon tail, in that spot under the bridge, and I was invaded. The guy had a really bad timing, I think he was on the bridge as I shot an arrow to the tail. The red dragon flew on the bridge and barbequed him in 3 fire breathes. I could see the flames around me from below but I was unhurt, and the invader got vanquished Praise the Sun

...I almost felt sorry for him...

I ran another invasion glitch today that I am pretty sure is well documented...

To put it bluntly, I suck at pvp, so I was hanging out in the forest getting invaded repeatedly and actually doing pretty well (helped that I had a Japanese white phantom with me). So, I keep seeing the same phantoms for a while, and killing them, when finally my JP player dies. I kill the phantom that got my partner and I am back by the staircase hitting summon signs... I get invaded (before successfully summoning a new ally) and start running towards the hunter, when suddenly I get a message that someone was summoned and it's one of the guys I had been killing over and over again, and he spawned in a hunter spawn point.

I killed the invader and then me and my accidental summon just look at each other for a while before engaging in some jolly co-op!

I guess this can happen both ways? Invaders spawning as allies, and ally summons spawning as enemies?
