As a Princess Guardian, I can say that we have our own Sun.... and we welcome to give it to everyone. That, and an excellent view.

I'm now officially a co oper after my many hours of making peoples lives a misery as a Gravelord. I have to say there is something very rewarding about it.

I've tried all the covenants and they all have great aspects. But both the most joy and the most variation I've found is in my first love, the Warriors of Sunlight. Sure, you'll get people that want you to give them equipment, or expect you to help them gank, but those times you get summoned by a new player that desperately needs help make up for everything. Favorite msg I ever got was from a guy I helped beat the gargoyles, who later messaged me and said he'd spent the entire day getting killed by mobs and griefers, and was on the verge of quitting the game when I helped him finally beat the level. I remember some other good PvP matches and stuff with other covenants, but nothing brings a smile to my face like that message. As they said in Serenity, if you can't do something smart, do something right.

Doesn't hurt that it accomplishes one of the goals of the Noble Knights does it? My favorite experience is the O&S boss fight. I usually play tank characters so I keep the focus off my summoner and absorb hits with a greatshield. That is perhaps what is most satisfying for me, drawing the fire away from others and occasionally intercepting a hit intended for another.

    Here, Here!

I am not a Warrior of Sunlight, persay, but my ideals of Co-Op are the same. I help people threw the game, and I even heal them with my miracles at times when I am part of the Princess Guard. I also am known to help people as a gravelord... after I have infected them.

Both variations, I have had a fun PvE experience, and I have gotten friend requests and thank yous as both a Gravelord and a Princess Guard. As a Gravelord, I told them that I infected them, but they did not care. They said they enjoyed the enemies, and gave it some flavour.

Co-op is a great experience, and in ways I am a hero... Until the use of my dried finger comes to play.

I like the Princess Guard, the unique miracles are ideal for coop obviously. I had a Princess Guard faith build I was using in Anor Londo for coop, on a hare brained theory that maybe if I got enough people through S&O to Gwynevere (i.e., "princess guarding") she'd rank me up or something. Only problem was that the summoning rate was a lot slower than for an identical sl sunbro character, so eventually I got bored and gave up.

They made a big mistake not giving the Princess Guard a summoning sign that resembles Gwynevere's "best assets".

I would prefer the portrait of Gwynevre instead of the illusion, IMO. Gwynevre as we see her with the LV is too cartoony. The one with her portrait is more appealing.

Sunbros, with the Prepare to Die edition of Dark Souls coming out in little over a month It has come to my attention that once i do get my PC copy, my PS3 copy will be all but abandoned, this includes the brave Cleric Ewlys, who still has yet to finish the game. it seems rather unjustthat he should not get to see his own Sun before his own time, so Id like to finish his quest before August the 24th.

    i still need to beat:
    -Nito
    -Ceaseless discharge
-The Hydra (pretty sure i gotta go solo on him though)
-whatever, if anything, that lurks in the great hollow
    - the four kings
    -Gwyn himself
    -and most likely others

anywho, your help as always would be greatly appreciated. Praise the Sun!

Post by befowler on Mon Jun 18, 2012 3:05 pm

So I've found a sorta fun sunbro tactic that I thought I'd mention. While waiting for summons, I've taken to reading the Book of the Guilty, starting from the highest sin down. At first it was just for giggles and style tips while I waited, but I soon noticed I was actually running into some of the listed players. It's particularly noticable if you stay in one area for a while since you start to get repeat invaders. The book lets you see a recent picture of their buildouts and stats, right down to what spells they have attuned. The beauty of it is that the more skilled they are, the more likely you are to have seen their bio since they likely have a lot more sin - I was also doing this in Anor Londo where a number of professionals seem to have taken up residence, so my odds seemed to be pretty good. To date I've had 3 wins on "named" invaders, largely because I knew exactly what their buildouts are just from their invasion msg name, so before the guy even appeared I for example knew he'd use a mura and GC, or a rapier and WOG, or whatever. It's kinda awesome.

Also, since I'm on EST I just skip the non-U.S. sounding names in the book since I rarely see those folks anyway. Saves time. You can just browse entries while waiting to be summoned; although you can tell when you've been summoned because a little save icon'll come up while you're reading.

I recommend sorcery based builds to sunbro. I always try to summon them first if i see them too, because no boss gets back up after 4 CSS to the face. It can be a lot more helpful than trying to tank and aggro the boss away from the host, and you won't get killed if you're good enough either. (Not that tanking's bad. I have a Solaire/Siegmeyer cosplay build at 70 and it's a lot of fun)

I like Faith builds because you often need a way to keep the host from getting backstabbed by invaders, and the AOE spells like wog/force really help. And vow of silence is great for dealing with the glass cannon invaders that have become pretty common. Did make a mage build in Anor Londo though that is exact armor and level as my faith build there. I'll just toggle between the two and confuse the daylights out of the repeat invaders. Both wear Solaire's gear mostly, which in addition to being awesome as a general matter has consistently good defense against physical and magic/fire/lightning.
