For a bit I have had a non-fully formed idea floating around in my head, so I wanted to put this out there for people to poke holes in.

Every covenant/player on this forum seems to agree that the bb glitchers that use it to grief players in the burg are annoying. So what else can be done to deter them. I know people already create anti griefing toons and try to escort new folks through those levels. What if a concerted effort was made to hand out indictments to these new players while they were in the burg, so they could indict the invaders. This would open these people up to dark moon invasions, which could be fun. I realize there are a number of things that need to happen, but if people were encouaged to hand out indictments early in the game to new players this could potentially work. This could be a lovely service provided by the darkmoons.

Alright, tell me all of the flaws.

Well Dark Wraith do not require the boss to be alive to invade, so they can just as easily kill the Taurus Demon and invade, but some might not so it could work. It's an interesting idea to say the least, and maybe it won't effect the burg as much, but it could effect higher areas that people keep open more often, like the depths.

So... I am wondering if I did this right... I Blue-Eye Orb invaded someone at the Anor Londo. Appeared on top of the stairs with the two knights right in front of the main gate and the target was just fighting with the two knights, a caster. I waited for him to finish the knights then walked slowly towards him. He bowed, I bowed and before I finished bowing he chugged down an estus and started casting soul masses. I evaded (DWGR) and started to sort of close-withdraw dance as he was, obviously, casting all aorund. Then he made a mistake of casting soul spear twice in a row, I approached and stabbed him with my +5 occult halberd. About 1/3 of his HP went down and both of use withdrew. I was thinking about withdrawing as it was, to my opinion, one sided fight. He chugged down another estus and ran down the stairs and summoned a help. Some heavy sun-bro guy. I withdrew all the way to the ledge (while exchanging few hits with the heavy armor guy) to the ledge with the dark knight archres. I stayed down for the first part though, figured that I would fight the armored guy one on one in the cramped space on the ledge between the railings (the first part where the archer knights do not see or shoot). The caster joined him of course and thanks to his spells they pushed me back. I withdrew myself on the second ledge, where I got fire support from the dark knight archers and killed the sun-bro. The caster started running away, all the way back to the spinning stairs contraption, I chased him, managing to hit him by running attack. He cast souls mass again, so I withdrew a bit to evade more easilly, he drank estus and started to summon another guy. At this point I lost my patience and killed him by one slash of halberd and two WotG. ...

So... now I am wondering if I should not handled it somehow in different way.

Nice story, good game. If they use estus I usually try to chain backstab them if they got lots of HP. If they have little HP and seem a little newbie in PvP I heal and continue to fight knowing they must be very scared. These are my favorite sinners twisted .

Well folks since it appears no one has posted in this DM thread in a bit - time to bring it back to life. Just turned my high-level hunter (SL314) into Darkmoon to see what its like delivering justice to the sinners.I have only had to time to do one DM invasion in the forest and it turned out pretty good (as usual a pair of gankers).I think I'm going to like this cov.

I have been reading up on exactly how the DM invasion system works so hopefully my SL will not hinder my invasions too much. I don't use this toon a lot but I am looking forward to hunting sinners when I do.

The guilty must pay the price!!

Funny, I just converted my original character, now level 150, back into a darkmoon after spending time as a gravelord. I wasn't getting much action as a gravelord. Fun times invading in the forest and Anor Londo. I figure in those situations I will mostly run into 2 or 3 vs 1.

I typically am getting whooped by them as they are generally ganking, but when I do pull of the victoy when out numbered it feels great.

I like to wear the summons ring at the same time to increase the chances of invading and while in the forest it is nice, because you can run around and fight the NPCs for a good amount of souls while waiting.

About the discussion on the first page, and Tolvos word about Darkmooners sending hatemail after either one of you die; It has happend to me aswell, maybe only 10 times thou, but Im a Darkwraith, so I usually do the invading, but still.

I must say that now-a-days, the DM are better compared with 6 months ago. When i first got into pvp I basically hated all DMs cuz nearly no-one that invaded me bowed, and most DWs that came to visit wanted a duel. Now I see more and more DMs bowing and rarly get hatemails anymore xD

Its really funny when they act like they are the Dark Souls heros, whos there to clens the world of Darkwraiths haha. I usually just laugh about it since the real sinners are Way of the White lolol.

(last input, the DMs that invade me usually hare highger lvl than me)

    Fellow Darkmoons-

I've noticed a tremendous increase in Darkwraith activity in the Oolacile Township and Royal Woods... We should coordinate some kind of mass Darkmoon invasion to rid the Township of sin and take back Oolacile for the good princess Dusk...

Would any forum members be interested in such an event?

Either way, I'm going to start passing out indictments in Oolacile today...

Most Darkwraiths will kill off all bosses to avoid broken invasions, good luck though

Holy crap, people still read this? Well, I'm here to help anyhow.

Its probably not cowardice rumed, but that humanity farming is dull, and allowing invasion risks being invaded before one can recover the stain, killing the boss prevents them being invaded so that they can fight at their leasure, instead of being worried about losing their stuff.

I generally play human and leave the bosses alive, but its not muc different than dms invading hollow (and we all do sometimes)

New member here. I am trying invading seriously for the first time. SL190 PS3. Right now I'm about 15/30 on killing host. Rank +1 dark moon. It is tough, but I seem to be getting better. I'm using +15 Zweihander with DMB and SLB miracles. And great magic barrier.

Any tips for good invasion spots for new dark moons?

Remember that most everyone hates dms, so don't hold back, the hosts rarely hesitate to do whatever it takes to kill you.

If you post your build I can give you more specific advice but I'll be general for now:

Pick an area, doesn't really matter where, and live there. (the toumb of giants, kiln of the first flame, and demon ruins have powerful mobs, so they work especially well.) Only invade there untill you've memorised every hiding spot, every shortcut, all the enemy placements.

This eliminates any distraction or possibility of getting lost and allows you to focus on finding and killing the host, rether than finding your way and with the knowledge of the terrain comes the ability to use it to your advantage.

I know I don't like fighting DM's mostly when I host, but that's just because if I win I don't get humanity. On a personal level it is nothing different and I don't treat them any different from Wraiths unless I see a DMB which just means be careful as hell. I just need the humanity sometimes.

They have every right to do whatever it takes. Just as you do.

For the record however, I'm routinely treated better when I use cracked orbs or wait for reds to invade me, than when I dm, despite no difference on my part in tactics or gear. I'm essentially forced (as a blue) to do whatever it takes or be chain bs'd or css+twop'd to death.

Its to late for new friends now, we may anger some people like you who's problem is the mentality but the mentality saves lives. (all important virtual lifes that are way more important than real lives)

As for the sl difference, past sl 60 or so itsreally on the player, not the sl, because both (despite the elemental nerf) will bee doing end game damage and likely have 1400+hp. Past that its just versatility, which is helpful but it's no substitute for skill.

My sl 80 dm gets summoned into sl 120 gank squads and comes out on top (I use the rss in the pw when I want to fight gankers, especially specific groups of gankers.)

Yes. My (and others) testing has led me to believe the game does a priority search, it looks for players within 10%+10 sls in both directions first (same as wraiths), first, then searches down. There is more to it than that (and the players you are currently connected to are the ones searched, obviously, but it means that one can invade down when there are similarly leveled players near by) but thats the gist.

So for a sl 100(both wraith and dm), the game will search within 10%+10 sl's in both directions, meaning the dm will first invade players sl 80-120 before it will move on.

The difference is that dm's search moves down after that, where the wraiths search moves up. I kill more than my share of sl 90+ people in the pw.
