Could Vamos be the nameless blacksmith deity of legend? He died, was buried in the tomb of giants and was subsequently raised by nito but his power was also returned and nito could not control him.

hmm, that's an interesting theory but problem is the deities on this game are either usually not of this world or are part of the Anor londo 'family' of Gods i suppose.

The main problem with your theory is that Vamos isn't a giant, he just looks like a regular old blacksmith..

Does it say anything about the blacksmith deity on his helm description that he drops?

His helm hints that Vamos was from some kind of royalty, but know no-one will know...

there was probably some sort of society in anorlondo or elsewhere in lordran and vamos was a king (maybe of the burg/parish area?) or was he a king who came to lordran after going hollow and through necromancy etc was made into a skeleton? could he be the lost king of balder? or berenike? (hes similar in size to the tower knights from there...)

Why does he have to be a giant?

He could have been royalty in a land in the world, using his blacksmithing powers to forge arms that led his armies to amazing victories.
