so I like heavy armor and heavy weapons, but which set of armor you wear changes how people react to you.

Havel: everyone and I mean everyone says to hell with it I need to back stab

Guardian: Im gonna hit and run

Golem: Spam him (I dont understand why.....)

Giants: dirty tactics all around......I blame The Legend for this reaction

Unfortunately, due to it's awesome stats defence/poise ratio, the Giant's armor was and still is a common ganker armor. "Giant Dad/Giant Mom" and all that. So, naturally when someone sees another in Giant's armor, then they assume you are ganker.

Don't understand why people would hate Havel's shield or any other greatshield unless you rely only on magic. I actually prefer to fight people using greatshields. You can bleed them/shotel them/poison them through it and they can't parry you back. They have just as many disadvantages as advantages.

Greatshield/spear is good fun in 1v1 though.  As long as you're not too predictable you can be SUPER annoying, turtle poking light weapon spam but also kicking people who get too close or even counter-BS. It turns into a nice mind game, because if you don't attack at the predictable moment a roll BS will fail them, and if you start kicking them + hit with fast follow-up stab the damage gets their attention. It's nice pressure, though junky vs gankers.

I do wish GSoA actually worked in PvP though.  IMO bleed through a shield is ridiculous conceptually anyway.

I didn't mind doing it.  You can still get midroll:

    http://mmdks.com/4dwe

And if people get too bs fishy you can always tickstab big grin.  An additional WoG is optional!  Dex to 16 because it's better than going to 40 str in terms of damage.

fun fact for smough armor... i get a higher incidents of barefisted fights while wearing it, it might be because this particular toon is "very large" body type and so is rounder than a pumpkin but still, people either fear me unreasonably or are more respectful than usual.

also what about tarkus's gear? i don't use it enough to generalize opponent behavior against it, oh and stone armor usually makes people over confident as its seen as noob armor.

which is when you swap to a parrying dagger or something to punish their heretical spamming, only a fool would expect the mighty tarkus to fall before mere spam!

Spamming tarkus is getting into a poise race vs someone with 79 poise who is carrying a weapon that breaks 75.  That's not a good equation unless someone's trying the old "gold tracer in havel's" setup or some such. In sets like that I see a lot more poke n role or more commonly, fishing.

Lot's of people react oddly to hidden weapon, I guess there's quite a few players who don't know it exists.

This is actually very true. I made a heavy pure pyromancer recently, and people would keep running right up to me just to spam R1, even though my Great Combustion would beat them every time. Guys invading me three times in, would still try the same tactic over and over again.

I suspect that this is because of how unimpressive Golem armor is statwise compared to the other heavy armors, many players consider it "noob" armor, and who would wear "noob" armor? Why a noob of course!

Just my theory, I like the way the Golem chest looks.

golem armor is not noob, only those that have played the game a long time would think of using something like that
