In their beds many will retire until the moment comes when it is time to aspire, aspire for a world in which the creatures of dark wander through our very streets!
Yes there will be various tricks but oh so many treats, so why should any feel that itch on the backs of their necks?
As children in costumes creep across porches, sidewalks, and decks!
Whether dressed as demons or as sexy nurses they'll all feel the chills.
As others are spooked in haunted houses full of incredible thrills!
But let's think back to the times of old when there were more than bonfires!
Remember back when there were truly awesome spires, spires made of wood to be burned.
I remember when our butter needed to be churned.
Of when specters and ghosts were not tales but true creatures in the minds of those trying to sleep in their beds.
As ghouls and monsters crept through their heads.
A cry in the night of a wolf, no a dog, no a child, or something unknown?
Perhaps it was just the village's old crone.
What if it isn't, what if its something so terrible it can't be conceived?
Kind words of a parent are not enough to make one relieved!
So out in the dark would the curious go, but how could they ever know?
By seeking out the origin of course, a hillside that seemed awfully coarse.
Looking around there was naught in sight but a cave surrounded by chilled air.
What could possibly be inside there?
Continuing into these darker depths the child noticed that there was nothing at all.
At least that was until they slipped and met with a terrible fall.
Down down down down down down down, deeper into the abyss!
Screaming all the way, oh there was nothing more horrible than this!
Finally it ended in a room full of hair which slowed the descent.
With this final moment they chose to repent, on their knees in the blackness for some sort of reprieve.
At this second a light was noticed, something one could only barely perceive.
Entering these hallowed grounds the child witnessed a ritual.
In front of a hollowed out pumpkin doing an act so brutal!
With a knife in hand a cloaked figure stood stabbing downwards.
Ripping back their hand it was full of innards, the pulp and other bits of the fruity dead.
Spinning around the finale was coming to a head, it looked upon this poor alone child with a violent intent.
Leaning forwards its back was bent, towering over this tiny creature that was at its mercy.
Covering their face they couldn't look on at the horror, they didn't wish to see.
Suddenly there was a prod against them as a piece of flesh touched theirs.
It was pinkish and heavy, dexterous and covered in hairs.
With their last moment of courage before the most horrible thing could happen their eyes opened.
What next they saw none should read, for it could easily offend.
While in the child's mind it would be a monster as terrible as the great Godzilla.
All they heard was "You're It" followed by the sight of a fleeing Pink Gorilla.
AHAHAAHAHAHAHA!
Now then, feel free to share your Halloween stories that you can come up with. It would be nice if we can keep a silly rhyming theme.
