Good movies you've recently seen Empty Good movies you've recently seen

While waiting for the Beta to open up last night (#rage) I moved through my movie backlog and watched a few flicks.

Last night, I watched Cloud Atlas, and I was immediately blown away by the whole thing. The acting, the writing, the EDITING!!! I was enthralled the whole way through.

Anybody else see good movies recently?

Pain and Gain is a pretty easy but fun watch though

ohand pacific rim is a steaming pile of crap acting and disappointment. Don't watch it.

I've seen quite a few bad movies, not any ones that I could say were that good. The only thing I found that was kind of enjoyable was Hotel Transylvania.

I watched Imaginaerum not too long ago, mostly because it's related to Nightwish's album by the same name.

It's... Better than you would think.

I watched the great Gatsby yesterday.. and found that it didn't deserve a lot of the bad criticism it generated. the acting was solid, it was very true to the novel, and the visuals were spectacular. The musical talent on that movie was also fairly extensive.. and it really helps to set the mood. The twenties were one of the highest times in History.. people nowadays associate the twenties with boring... because nowadays many things from the twenties are considered boring.. one of them being Jazz. By mixing jazz in with the more well known styles of music today the director of this movie basically gives us our own insight to what the twenties jazz era was like.. a pretty amazing idea if you ask me, and very effective

I watched Life of Pi last night. The only thing I knew about it going in was that a kid ends up on a lifeboat with a big CGI tiger. I didn't know whether that was going to be a good thing or not, but I ended up really enjoying it. There's way more to it than just a kid on a boat with a cat.

I also found a used copy of Fire in the Sky for $3 over the weekend. Great horror flick and based on a true and terrifying story. It's based on one of the only cases officially ruled as alien abduction in US history, and not only does the film come off as very believable, but I've done a little research on the actual story online, and it's a tough one to dispute.

Really wanted to see enders game, loved the book then i saw it was 12's and just "harry potter meets starwars", really don't want to see now.

I'm more a fan of classic horror movies.

The Robert Wise version of The Haunting

George C. Scott in The Changeling

The 1970's version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers

    John Carpenters The Thing

The Thing is spectacular. Another classic.

Anything by Romero made before the 90s is a good choice too.

I randomly watched a couple netflix horror movies last night, and both of them actually ended up being pretty good. Europa Report and I think the second one was called The Devil. Europa Report is about the first manned mission to deep space. Approaches the subject as if it were existing in the real world. Sorta part sci-fi, part suspense, part horror. I enjoyed it. The Devil is about a group of people getting stuck in an elevator and one of them is the devil in human form, there to play out some repeating happening where he comes to Earth to take groups of sinners. So it's kind of a horror/who-dun-it. A bit cheesier than Europa Report, but I enjoyed it. Neither were spectacular, but definitely worth watching if you're like me, and have slowly gotten bored with pretty much everything on Netflix instant.
