Getting ready for Dark Souls II pvp

Post by XuitusTheGreat on Tue Oct 22, 2013 9:23 pm

    Spoiler:
so since endurance is being split into two stats I feel builds will be focused down into pure dex, pure str tanks, and pure mages so I'm getting myself used to fat roll so that when the game launches I'll be used to it and will not have to adapt too hard since im going with a pure str tank haha (heavy armor requires str now so no more havel dex builds) for the sake of prepping im treating resistance as the new weight stat and endurance as the stamina stat

    Getting used to fat rollin?
Well I'm already used to it. The big thing is I-frames may or may not be a thing anymore. If they aren't, I've issues I need to adjust for, if I frames are a thing, life will be fine. I'm good at dodging.

    LMAO...
Yes, that is the exact kind of build I think they are trying to avoid being part of the PvP meta this time silly

yeeeeeeeaaaaa *cough*....... fat roll does have certain advantages though that I'm liking......like 1600-2k hp and saving a ton of points in endurance

I'm sorta assuming there will be no FAP ring but there will be a havel style ring we'll see though ^^

The saved points in endurance are sure a big one. Having the ability to win trades with any foe is the big one really.

I'm doubtful that heavy tanking will be that viable in pvp primarily because roll-bs has been confirmed to be doable in the beta.  We'll see come March I guess.

roll bs is a joke lol me and my great demon machete laugh at that, just fight lock off and boom roll bs is a free win cause some dork will roll behind u, drop their shield, and then take a nice big machete to the face. I am unconcerned about roll bs existing in dark souls II, imo people who roll bs are free wins for me

I have to imagine the wolf ring won't be coming back cause of "nude" 76 poise builds huehuehue http://mmdks.com/4dsv

it also helps that heavy poise armor now requires :

    Spoiler:
    Strength
so no more heavy armor dex builds

People claim it's not viable now and I still win a lot of my matches.

If you fat roll in Dark 2, you're better off never rolling. I-frames are nonexistant with it.
Everything I've heard and seen about roll BSing in the beta footage (and trust me, I've seen a LOT) says that it in no way works the same way it used to.

Don't even bother trying to figure out specific build stats at this point, all you can do is speculate. The new stats and mechanics are too different to translate a Dark 1 build to.

Try changing up your playstyle, don't use any stamina regen, don't roll BS, play unlocked a lot, and submit to a BS every time your guard is broken. That'll work a bit better for preparation.

mmmmm if you go fat roll unless its do or die I can't imagine rolling anyway o-o I have a Havel's shield in my back up slot in case someone starts casting magic o-o only time I would really roll would be to avoid bleed ^^ otherwise fat rollers don't ever really have to roll since if someone is dumb and just starts to spam attacks you win big grin

so I'll equip what ever the best great shield in dark souls II is and do the same

btw apparently barefists do good damage (200+ on a bs) and may scale with str (200+ dmg mentioned was on a base atk stat build with no real investment in either dex or str)

oh and greatshield bashes are actually useful apparently as they can guard break your opponents into the new critical attack state or just flat out squash them
