Worst game ever?

Now imagine something much worse then that, much much worse then that.

So, what is/are the worst games you've played/know of?

I was always under the assumption that superman n64 was the worst game ever conceived by an actual intelligent life form.

I've always wanted a big rig that can accelerate up a near vertical mountain and whose brake lights are mere ethereal red lights following the truck. Amazing.

The Death and Return of Superman is the worst game I've ever played

No, Desert Bus is not the worst video game of all time, that statement is factually wrong .

I know what i would get when i buy this game, i know it's bad .
It's more of a joke than anything .

You buy it for 5 bucks, play it for 10 Minutes with a Friend and you laugh .
That's it, you laugh, you have fun .

Compare that to game like Final Fantasy 13 .
You don't play it for 10 Minutes with a Friend and have a laugh, you play it for 50 Hours, alone, pressing the same button and hearing the same soulless Music over and over and over again .

Desert Bus is a better Video Game than Final Fantasy 13 .

FF13 is definitely up there. I played it right after I spent two weeks farming for pure bladestone. When it was all said and done I liked the red eye skeleton more than ff13 and have more fond memories of farming

The Death and Return of Superman is the worst game I've ever played

As in the SNES Death and Return of Superman? Because I actually really like that game. We can't be thinking of the same thing. The one I'm thinking of is one of the few Blizzard made SNES games, and they were all great. They made Blackthorne too, which is just an awesome take on the classic Prince of Persia style puzzle/platformer.


Coincidentally, ya know that Big Rigs game is made by the same people who made the game that was originally called The War Z, now called Infestation: Survivor Stories? The one that's pretty much a generic rip of Day Z. There's this whole conspiracy theory I've read online about how their core developers create dummy companies, develop a game or two that requires little to no production, launch ad campaigns with video and screen shots that look really incredible but that don't actually represent the games, charge full market price for their products for a couple weeks, then once angry consumers start organizing against them they abandon the companies and create new ones with different names and do it again. Check out some of the original ads for Big Rigs and some of the original, and current, ads for War Z, then compare what they're advertising to the actual games themselves. It actually really seems plausible.

That's the game Plastic. Generic everything. We destroyed the game in no time with zero effort. After the build up with the comic series it was brutally bad.

Yeah I didn't read the comic. Not much of a comic guy. I don't think there's anything wrong with it in comparison to any other beat em up from that gen though. Compare it to the Final Fight series. It really doesn't lack anything they've got.


Well outside multiplayer I guess. Batman Returns is often called one of the best beat em ups of the SNES gen though, and Death and Return is literally the exact same game mechanics wise, except instead of missions driving the batmobile, you have flying missions.

I never played Batman. The biggest problem with superman was how ridiculously easy it was. Final Fight made you work for it. Plus the characters ruled

I would actually argue the exact opposite. I still play SNES pretty regularly, and I get bored playing Final Fight because it's so easy, but the enemies in Super Man actually use group tactics to kill you. They'll spawn flyers and ground enemies in at the same time and attack you from multiple directions at multiple levels in space, and there isn't anything you can do about it without being fast and implementing skill. Play them both again. Trust me. If there's one thing I'm not humble about it's my knowledge of retro games. It's not a brutally difficult game by any means, but beat em ups rarely are. I think it's difficultly is pretty respectable in comparison to the rest of the genre though. Certainly on par with Super Double Dragon, which I'd argue is the often overlooked, best beat em up of that generation.

Final Fight does have some good characters. Especially 1 and 3. I thought 2's characters were a little weak, save Haggar of course. Super Man has fun characters too though. In fact I like the way they implemented their character system for a one player game. As opposed to allowing you to just choose who you wanted, they showed you each of them, then you had to work through progressively harder levels in order to get to play each one. Almost like a reward system. You start as regular Super Man, then move to the Cyborg, actually playing as the bad guy for a few levels, which is another cool thing not many games do, then you play the Eradicator for a couple levels, whose actually kinda lame as far as I'm concerned, but then you get to use Superboy followed by the Man of Steel, both of which are pretty awesome. This is coming purely from my experience with the game mind you. I don't really know anything about their actual characters in the books, just their basic gists.

All I know is my sister's boyfriend and I rented the game and blew through it so quickly that even the 99 cent rental fee seemed wasted. And I liked seeing the different versions of Superman of course but it was a very watered down attempt at the story. I'm not saying it doesn't have redeeming qualities and you can't love it but for me it was the single biggest disappointment so far

The worst games I've played are some MMO's I don't even remember the names of anymore. I normally don't mind point and click games if they have som niche to redeem themselves with, but I went through too many MMO's that lacked good gameplay elements, settings, art style, pure graphics, and a good community. If you're going to bore me to death with your gameplay, at least try to make it look nice.

If you're going into a beat em up expecting earth shattering plots I think you're looking in the wrong place though. Final Fight is lauded as one of the best beat em ups of all time, and the plot to that game, in its entirety, is: a gang kidnapped the daughter of the mayor of metro city, and only a ninja, the wrestler/mayor, and her street fighting boyfriend can save her. That's the whole thing.

I think a lot of what makes some of the older beat em ups really work, even to the point of being fun today, is variety of moves. There are so many that people love, that I've personally never understood, because your characters are capable of doing like 3 different things. A normal button mashing combo attack, usually some kind of jumping attack, and maybe a throw if you're lucky. For me the ones that always really worked were the ones where you could do a ton of different things, so that you could mix it up and enjoy some variety, or even, if you were really lucky, be able to apply different moves to different situations based on what was most effective. That's where I think Superman shines. Each character has 4 different grapples, a couple of which can be used to destroy the environment and sometimes find hidden items, a projectile, several different button mash combos, a health draining special move, a couple different aerial attacks, and the ability to use Superman's strength to lift big things like dumpsters over their heads and throw them. There are certainly beat em ups that are far superior for so many reasons, but even within it's genre, within its particular platform, I think the worst game ever it is not.

I mean SNES also offered beat em up gems like these too:

Captain Commando
Bebe's Kids
Last Action Hero
Captain America and the Avengers

There's just no comparison.

Imagine a modern day Big Rigs but even worse.

I don't expect earth shattering plots in most games, especially beat em ups but that game doesn't really immerse you in the characters. Powers are cool but even the old X-Men arcade beat em up made me actually feel character differentiation (to a limited degree, thank you Nightcrawler and Colossus). For someone who really liked the concept of the divergent Superman in the comics to basically have a mindless game in which the joys of The Eradicator are nullified is pretty crappy. And I stand by my primary assertion that the first time we ever played the game seemed like a speed run by a pro. I can forgive a lot of the other stuff but for comparison purposes I (again, this is just my experience) had more thrills and excitement due to being challenged with Hamsterball this weekend with my daughter than we did with Superman. That's the reason that, for me personally, it's the worst game ever.

I'm not trying to convince you that you should feel the same way but to feel ripped off after a buck rental fee is pretty terrible in my opinion and that's what I left with. It's the same argument that got FF13 into the mix. The graphics in that game are gorgeous. There's some great plot elements. I actually enjoyed the battle mechanics (until I learned that the entire game goes cutscene, battle, cutscene, battle, etc.). But at the end of the day it's how the game left you feeling. Both of those turds won't make it back into my queue.

Hamsterball is more than welcome in my home though. Oh Cheeky!

I'll give you that the experience for a fan of the story is probably a disappointment. The ending was probably one of the worse SNES endings I've seen, and that's saying something.
