No GFWL Overlay Empty No GFWL Overlay

Post by zetapulse Sat Sep 28, 2013 10:08 pm

    Hello,

I've read every thread I can scrape out of the bottom of the internet's barrel & tried every method to no avail.

Simply put, I don't get a GFWL overlay when I start Dark Souls.

I've submitted an email to Microsoft requesting tech support today & will try to call them when the week starts. In the meantime, has anyone been able to do anything about this issue?

Dark Souls itself only states that I am not signed in & thus will not be able to save my game, as well as that I'm not connected to GFWL & therefore cannot access online mode.

I had this problem with GTAIV. I it didn't get fixed until I upgraded my OS. Which is a pain and I'm sure you don't want to do.

Like you said, give them a call. I did have to call them once. And I will say, I've never had a more pleasant, and productive experience when any customer support. Ever.

The guy I got was smart, kind, patient, and tried every possible trick in the book to help me out. I'm hoping your experience will be similar.

    Luck!

Thanks. Upgrade to Windows 8 when I only upped to 7 this year? Mmmmmaaaaaybe, but unlikely. I only recently reformatted as well, & I must say, setting up all the programs to the way they were before was a challenge akin to the first 20 times I faced Ornstein & Smough.

I've been on hold for the past 10 minutes with XBox Live support (couldn't find GFWL support). I'll post results.

They're playing... Indian music, I think. I like the tune, but I'm worried as to what this may imply.

Results: WELP, the kind Indian fellow stated that support for GFWL is only done online, & linked me to the Microsoft Community. I can't post the link yet, if I find a solution I'll post it here.

No no no no, they have a number. Not trying to say this in any kind of bad taste, but you should get an American with this number.

      1-877-274-4349

That should be the GFWL number. Should.

In my case is was from XP, to 7.

My issue was, I needed SP3 to play Dark Souls. Here's a interesting little tid bit not many people know about. But if you have windows XP, 64-bit, there is no such thing as SP3. It only goes up to SP2. You can get SP3 if it's a 32-bit version. But not 64.

I wish this would work, but I'm currently living in Australia. We don't have a limit to the issues we have here with technology. I'll see if I can call the above number internationally. Thank you so much for providing it!

I received an email from MS in response to one of my queries & they redirected me to the same number I dialed yesterday, but different options. Result: "Sorry sur yu dialed derong extension."
