Will you try all the classes before picking one?

Just wondering if anyone else plans a run through the inevitable "tutorial" level with each class before selecting the one they want to start with for a first run?  I'd really like to see the changes they make, and it would be nice to have some alternates ready to go at a moment's notice.  Maybe not all, but definitely a sampling.

I'm going to make multiple different types of builds eventually, but not immediately. I'll choose one and play through the game as one type of character before trying another.

I'll fiddle with a few then pick one to tackle the game with. Won't be patient enough to go through each starting class in the beginning.

I'ma say no. But here's why.

It's not that I know right off the bat what I want. But I like being forced to live with the choice I've made. I think it makes for the best characters come end-game. Because with that method, you end up trying things with the class you chose that you normally wouldn't, because you simply don't know better at that point. If that makes sense.

    But that's just me.

Same. At most, I'll make 3 characters with some standard archetypes: bow/knife/dual-wielding, magic/pyro, big strong knight of honor or whatever.

Then again, maybe not. When I first played DkS, I just started out with a generic warrior (was a longsword fan until I discovered the beauty that is the halberd) and added pyro onto that sometime around Sen's Fortress once I discovered it and thought it was cool and effective. Lil' ol' Rubikos has been my favorite character ever since and I always use him for challenge runs. As much fun as it was to seek out specific items that I had seen on the wiki for particular builds, nothing beat the innocent, terrified, curious joy of going through the game with that first character (which, granted, ended up a mess in terms of stats and equipment optimization, but I digress) and discovering what the game had to offer by trying it all on that one character. I'd rather try a few things on that character and then, depending on what my experience points me towards (say, I find some cool faith spells) maybe I'll go that route next playthrough.

So yeah, I'll probably just pick a single class and roll from there. I doubt the dual swordsman, temple guard, and the like will be starting classes (just like we couldn't start as a BK in the first one) but just if they were, i'd go with temple guard and mess around with that.

I'll probably start with one jack of all trades type character, then once I have an idea of what types of items I can get early on, I might try a more specialized approach.

probably not with all the same equipment.  from the sound of it,how you play the tutorial will be the deciding factor in your starting class/stats.

I'd rather just pick one, go through the whole game with it and then pick another and do the same thing. As long as we get a similar character customization screen as we did in DkS where I can see the stats and the starting armor, I'll be fine.

As long as the tutorial just offers a suggestion or points us in the right direction, rather than picking a class/starting item for us at the end and locking us into that, (echoing what the guy above me said) I wouldn't mind that at all.

Since I started playing Amarr in EVE I cannot play the villainous fiend I originally wanted to.

TEMPLE Knight for me all the way.

I started both DeS and DkS with mage characters, and I've always enjoyed the class.  But I also remember really digging a melee based Faith build, and dex build, that I tried later.  I like having ranged options for bosses, and spells and arrows fill that need.  What I really need to see is the changes to healing before making a choice.  If I had to choose my first playthrough character in DkS again, I'd go with Faith.  But with a new game, everything will be different.

I think im going to just stick with my tradition and choose the wanderer class and make him a use a little of everything. After that if i don't make a dex or strength build ill probably experiment with a caster most likely a mage. I really hope that FROM is true to their word and refined the casting system i hated magic in dark souls but loved it in demons souls.

How about a "I'll get the game and figure it out" option?

Dual wielding with that new torch mechanic sounds like it might be intriguing.  Too many friggin' options!
