So I just watched the new trailer and caught a glimpse of the collectors ed. at the end and saw the map on display... surprised uhhh did they just.. I couldn't help myself, so I paused the video and snipped it.

For anyone who does not want to see the the world layout (in pixelated res, but def discernible) do not open spoiler tab!

for those who do, what are your thoughts?

I hope the scale of that dragon is gonna be real and we have to fight it in other than puzzle-like way we did with Dragon God.
The rest...I can't make out anything from this resolution. sad

Right? That would be an epic battle considering the size of it. Yea.. that is about as good as i could get it. You can make out some building structures, mountains, forested areas, and what looks like 13 location labels.. mind you, that is just the surface. From has a thing for journeys that end up going downward.

The highlighted portion of the map is in a shape that looks somewhat like an island, or on the coast and bordering nation is darkened out. Either way, it looks great. Hopefully a high res pic will hit the net sometime here soon. Im sure From is not happy that Namco threw that on a trailer ad lol

The map of Dark Souls considered only of Undead Burg and Parish if I remember correctly. Let's hope this map is also as "small". big grin

dks1 map encompassed everything that was above ground, but focal point was the burg and parish. you can google search the image. but There is so much that is below ground, and the dev's have stated they wanted to focus on level depth, not just breadth, in dks2. Plus we have no scale on this, so it could be a vast area with alot of countryside between locations. That would be awesome, think of dragons dogma or something not TES-sized.. would be fun to explore and find secret locations

That's definetly not the scale of the dragon. It's just the nice cliche fantasy map that we all know and love with the obligatory mythological creatures on it (which aren't scaled.) Not too much to read into apart from the fact that Dragons live there.

^yep, just like the serpents on old-timey maps waiting to engulf ships before they fall off the edge of the world lol.

idk, its nice to see the shape of the land, and look closely enough you can make out some locations/terrain. we have the map from the first game to make inferences from.

for 1, that map layout showed us that we had a giant citadel with a few surrounding areas. It translated well with the actual above-ground portion of the game.

2nd is that this map is not a zoomed in location such as lordran map was, but looks more like a nation or big island. we can imply that the world may be bigger in scale, but structures may be more isolated and spread out, which would make sense of them to allow warping right away if we are to travel back n forth between them.
