When wearing the lingering dragoncrest ring the crystals on your weapon after applying crystal magic weapon slowly deteriorate over a period of 20 seconds, without the ring CMW just goes away in an instant.

Actually, (Not too certain about this though,) I think the crystals disappear like that normally, just way too fast to tell that well. (Why I'm not that certain about it)

Hidden Weapon, makes whips sparkle when attacking.

Yeah it's really too fast to tell, but it would make sense. That way From would just have to slow down the original animation (by the factor 40 or more).

Against my better judgement I just popped the game in and started a new character for the first time in probably over a year. I think this is the first time I've played while not being so swept up in the whole souls phenomena, and I have to say I think I'm really discovering for the first time that the human characters are just butt ugly. They really are. I hope we get some more refined character creation in DkS2. Some honest facial hair would be really nice, as I've said many times, but it'd be great if we had the ability to create characters that weren't so awkward looking too.

I hit an invader with the channeler trident running 2-hd R1 stab, and even though he blocked it with a shield it bounced him backwards a good ways and right off a cliff. Never realized it had knockback.

Neither did I until a few seconds ago when a ganker decided to test that.

No Rynn don't talk like that! You can lose the weight I promise!

(My current char had 40 Dex at level 50 but is around 80 fast rolling in thorn/steel/wanderer mix. Still. 15 vit is too squishy to do well It seems. I made one host chug about 5 estus before I was even hit once. Not enough it seems.)

I never noticed before how twisted the Undead Burg really is. Especially the lower portion. I was just in the area with all the hollows with the torches that try to swarm you over on the end where you first rescue Griggs, and just standing back and looking at that for a minute, it's pretty disturbing. The hollows all have torches and are gathered outside a door that's boarded up from the outside. The largest group of them are off to the side surrounding a dead body slumped against the fence. All that has a lot of connotations. I never really paid it much mind before.

It never really clicked with me before now how the whole undead thing started like a kind of plague.

It really is crazy how much this game says without saying anything directly.

And if you need humanity to live wouldn't that imply that you had to murder others for theirs? (And their souls)

I think that's definitely one of their options. Seems to be Lautrec's whole perspective on the subject. He pretty much says it at one point.

Another nail in the coffin for the "Dark Souls has no story" argument.

Yeah I would say that argument doesn't have much of a leg to stand on at all. I'm falling in love with it all over again just through giving the plot a chance on this run through. I played the game pretty much exclusively for over a year, but the last probably 5 runs I did I was doing just to make PvP builds, so I didn't really give much thought to any of that, or let any of the NPC's talk or anything. The combination of taking a long break, and now really giving myself a chance to stop and smell the roses while I play, it's really an incredible incredible game. It really is such a masterpiece for so many reasons. Even the world in and of itself is amazing. The way it communicates to the player is totally unique in video games. Going back through now, it's pretty obvious why I was, or why we all have been, so hooked on it. It's great.

I like how a lot of things are hidden not because they are OP or secret but because that is how it would have been. Gwyndolin for example and all of Anor Londo being an illusion. Mindblowing because it supports the argument that NOT kindling the flame like they all tell you to might not be the "good" ending. And The Great Hollow with the last surviving Everlasting Dragon going into Exile Yoda-Style. If I didnt hear about that area online I never would have found it or explored it.

This game has better plot hidden away than most games try for.

    My Grand Discovery!
    (Because its two)
The Dark Sign DOES NOT make you hollow.
Conversly, it DOES NOT leave a bloodstain. So it is not a very good Homeward Bone substitute.

And i thought i was assuming things lol .
A couple pages back i also discovered something about the Dark Sign .

When you have a Bloodstain but don't pick it up and then use the Dark Sign. you can still collect your Bloodstain afterwards .

So there are some possibly awesome uses for it !

Ive never used it until then. It keeping your bloodstain is quite useful but in other situations it is second to just getting killed.

Quelaag is capable of doing a TON of damage really quickly. I had no idea. I knew her red WoG type attack could hit hard, but I just got stuck in the middle of one of her magma pools, and it pretty much stun locks you inside of it and just keeps hitting for massive damage. I went from full health to none in about 3 seconds, and I couldn't get out of it because I kept doing the stun animation over and over. I had no idea she could actually kill you so easily. It's crazy.
