What just happened?

Hello everybody! Long time player, first time poster

I've been playing Dark Souls since release, and I've levelled up more characters than I care to remember, but just a few moments ago something happened which I've never experienced before in all my time playing. Perhaps there is a very simple explanation and I'm just being very silly, but this is what happened:

I was in Anor Londo, fighting the two big shieldy dudes before O&S so that I could safely summon Knight Solaire to give me a hand during the fight. I was fighting one of the giants, and I was nowhere near any summon signs at all, in fact I am under level for the area so the chances of any players having summon signs around was highly unlikely. Then I got a message that somebody was summoning. When the player appeared they didn't have the glow of a white or golden phantom. They ran straight up to me, cast some kind of miracle which instantly increased my Humanity from 0 to 5, and gave me the same little icon under my healthbar as the ring of sacrifice. The player then very kindly helped me with O&S, but wasn't immediately ported out after defeating the boss, and seemed to leave by their own choice a short while later.

Is there something I've missed in the Dark Souls games up until now? This all seemed very odd!

Uh, first off...welcome. At first I was gonna say a glitch since there's recorded instances of things getting weird. Like invaders coming in as white or gold phantoms or the opposite but the rest of that screams hacker. Like big time hacker.

At least he was nice. I would edit the person's name out though. It's against forum rules

Why? He's not slandering the guy.

That post was setting a slippery slope. He was a hacker. This forum doesn't respond well to hackers. Even if the original post shone him in a good light, just the mention of hacker is enough to set things off. Best to hide that name and avoid the downfall.

That's one of the coolest things iv heard of lately.. alas I have never been graced with someone such as that. You sir, may count yourself a very lucky individual.. usually hackers aren't half as nice

Let's put it this way- He should pack his stuff and leave Xbox Live.

Because he deserves to be the MVP of Dark Souls.

Just not in any world I live in.
