few questions about build/weapons Empty few questions about build/weapons

    hello everyone

I am new to dark souls/demon souls currently i am playing a wanderer SL 51 i have gotten as far as killing the hydra which was very easy i am using the uchi +10 which is a decent weapon but ive been using it since the start i am looking for something better that i can acquire now without a problem or would this be the best weapon till late game? if it matters my states are:

    Vitality 19
    Attu 11
    Endurance: 32
    str: 18
    Dex: 17
    reis:12
    Int:11
    Faith 14:

i normally only use my weapons as a 2hander with a crest shield in my left hand (for stam regen bonus) i am using havels ring + Ring of favor and protection which i use for the load boost if anyone could recommend what i should do with a weapon upgrade it would help alot! also should i keep building my Dex or what?

My worry is that if i over level the game will be to easy right now the only thing that is giving me problems at all is boss's if that.......i will be headed to the blight place next so hope it gets harder.

I'd recommend the claymore if you like to 2 hand weapons, it's good for both PVE and PVP and can deal a good amount of damage to enemies.

However if you're looking for a decent dex weapon I'd try using the Great Scythe, you can find it somewhat easily within the catacombs. Here's a video on getting to it.

You are leveling DEX and Strength pretty equaling so any of the weapons that scale to both will be good for you (and it will only get better as you level up your stats and weapon further), such as the Claymore.

Since you like 2-handing the Murakumo might be good for you as it is a very strong weapon which shines when used with both hands.

Also, keep in mind that at 18 DEX the entire arsenal of Black Knight weapons open up to you so that is something to keep in mind as well.

Take note though, that these are just ideas should you want to switch the Uchigatana is more than enough to see you, or anyone else for that matter, through the game.

Most importantly, welcome to the Forum.Proper Bow

EDIT: Since your weapon is already at +10 before Blighttown I wouldn't expect much in the way of resistance there, once you hit Anor Londo things will, most likely, pick up in difficulty.

There's good advice above and here's my two cents.

    First, welcome.

Second, if you've never finished the game before overleveling isn't a big concern. Taking an extra hit or two will help with bosses but it's not a game changer. You'll still need plenty of skill and patience for a good deal of the game.

You may be barred from the forest hunter covenant if you don't repent for your sins after killing him. So if you want to do forest hunting later in this playthrough I'd repent after killing him and his guard that drops the DWGR.

There is an alternative to getting the Mura and that's farming it from the giant skeletons you find in the Firelink graveyard and the tomb though.

There may not be a guide for it, however the best advice I can give you for farming is to head to firelink. Since you aren't too far, I'd suggest getting the gold serpentine ring from Sen's fortress. Here's a guide on how to find it. Once you get that equip it and head over to the location of the giant skeleton that you find at the firelink graveyard. (It should be guarding the zweihander).

I'd just rinse and repeatm on killing the giant skeleton until it drops the murakumo, don't expect it right away though. The drop from the giant skeleton is a rare one.

In order to get into Sen's you have to ring both bell towers, if you haven't done that you won't be able to get in.

Slow to get going though it combos nicely. Strength doesn't affect the swing speed of any weapon.

It swings relatively slow but the amount of damage it does and the fact that it's good for stunlocks really makes up for it's speed. Also it's a weapon that relies on your strength more than your dexterity so you'll need to level up to get a STR of 28 to use it.

Also, swing speeds do not change with more strength sorry mate.

Actually Grin, it scales better to DEX than to Strength even though it has more demanding Strength requirements. Odd, I know.

That's one way to about it, yes. 28 Strength is also a great scaling stat to to get to use a plethora of Strength scaling weapons.
