    PVP Etiquette Empty PVP Etiquette

I'm generally a peaceful guy when it comes to PvP or invading worlds because of the Forest Hunters Covenant. The first thing I do is I bow to my opponent(s), if he summoned a spirit, which is kind of a ***** move. But if they attack me as soon as I bow, I leave that world. Is it REALLY that hard to bow back and show some respect and sportsman ship?

The forest is infamous for it's lack of honor. Even otherwise "honorable" players go there to let out that inner hollow. I think it's good that a place like this exists.

What happens in the forest, stays in the forest.

If you want a more honorable duel, I suggest the moon pit next door.

    Cheers!

    By etiquette, you mean "honor."

So no, it is not dead. When setting up duels with people on the forum, attending fight clubs, or tournaments there is always a type of respect between the players. Even if there is not a "rule" that says to have honor, we always do. We all show respect to each other as a community. (besides the few scragglers of course)

Now when dueling randoms, that's a whole different story of course. Everyone knows the forest is the last place you go when looking for honorable duels. There's is a tiny bit a respect here and there in the Burg, but the best place for honorable duels is the moonpit. I run into a lot of pretty experienced players which is fun because it gets boring trashing people in the Burg everyday.

If you want good honorable duels in which you would like to further your skills as a Dark Souls player, setting up duels with people on here, and fight clubs are your best bet. And i promise you that.

IMO, proper honor in the Forest is to kill your enemy by any legit means available. It is war there. We like the war. People who back down and don't fight are dishonorable, for the forest. Jump in and kill someone.

Being ganked is what many of us look forward to. I hate it when a white phantom doesn't jump in and help the host gank me. It goes against what I'm looking forward to (and specifically design builds for) and it goes against everything the Forest stands for. Same goes for Catbros who refuse to join another Catbro to kill the host. And, for you Darkwraiths, keep it random who you align with (and even change sides during fights). Add to the insane chaos.

And, this opinion is for the forest only. I absolutely love the uniqueness of the Forest. Just as much as I love the "honor duels" of other places.

Etiquette is certainly not dead. It is just too varied to seem alive.

You would not like me in the forest, Reim. I tend to play a goofy host there. Best way for me to get stuff from MegaMuled people there is to run into one guy who wants to mess around with me. Which happens a few more times than it should, considering how rare I bother with the forest.

I believe you can run into nice people regardless of where you are, just as you can find jerks even in good "honor" spots. I've gotten quite a few jerks in the Moonpit as well, although a couple were much nicer when they realized I was only interested in 1v1 duels (aka I moved to the pond area).

I guess my point is the Forest is different. IMO, the nice guys are the ones who back their phantom up. The forest is war. It is not duelling. It is WAR. If you take your buddy into the middle of a real world war, does he sit back and let you have an honor duel with the enemy? Hell no. Same ethics apply to the Forest.

And, another point - the definition of ethics. Ethics are variable. It depends on a external source to create the rules. Morals are an individual's choices. So, the Forest's ethics are already set. If you don't follow them (WAR rules), then you are unethical.

I'll admit, i have hosted in the forest by myself. But, the point of it was so i could ganked. Now that is fun. While i'm fighting player A, player B invades to help his fellow Catbro. While they attempt to gank me, a DW invades.

Sometimes the DW will even help me and fight off a Catbro. Sometimes they all end up trying to gank me (which i want.) You'll learn a lot in the forest fighting multiple opponents. It makes honorable duels seem easier.

You just never know what's gonna happen or what you'll run into in the forest. And that's the beauty of it. But, i rarely go in there anymore. I can't ever get out because it's constant invasions. The door is always fogged so i have to kill myself to get out of there.

Question: would any of you go to the Arena's Death Match arena and get mad that people are ganking you? Would you expect 2 of the people sit back while 2 others fight in an honor duel? No. Why? Because free for all is expected in the Death Match Arena. It is the exact same thing in the Forest.

I've done some hosting in the burg and in the PW, and I can say, without a doubt, etiquette is not dead.
