Give Me Give Me Give Me... In-Game Begging

Just started playing a bit again after a long while and I'm bummed to come across this behaviour...

One of my favorite things to do is grief the griefers in the upper burg. I have a sweet SL1 build(actual build) and I enjoy seeing summoners through this area especially when a griefer shows up. Usually this was very satisfying and rewarding for myself as it suits my nature. Occassionly I would drop humanity, resin, titanite, etc.. to players who were clearly new to the game. 

Fast forward to last week when I popped in DS, fired up my SL1 build, threw down my sign and presto PM after PM asking for my stuff. Nearly 30% of the time when  I appear the summoner is just standing there typing. I never experienced this in the past except when I would come across the occasional NG+ who might send a trade offer which is totally cool IMO. 

I'm guessing this is a direct result of BB glitch being fixed as the bulk of my play occurred before that patch. Now that same personality type has no shame in resorting to in-game begging. Please note that I have no problem with anyone utilizing discussion boards to trade or ask for equipment.

It's against my so-called phantom code but now I just crystal back to my world in response and hope a griefer gets them, sad to say.

I agree, it's obnoxious. Unfortunatly most online games with loot have their share of beggers.

It's the entitled ones that are the worst. They just tell you to give them stuff.. almost demand it.

Drop em a dung pie and move on (or invade them yourself!)

The ones that act really entitled and expect you to drop them stuff, just black crystal out and start invading.

Chances are you'll invade them (especially on PC) due to the way the networking works.




Then kick them off a cliff  

I hate it when people ask for stuff and as soon as you say no or I just started this toon myself, they send me away. So I block them cause it ticks me off big time lol. I block so they can't spam pm me anymore.

My favorite is when they ask for 99 boss souls lol. I usually just spam laugh untill I get booted.

I hate that a lot but I love making them regret it. Favorite way: point down bc out and then invade then and kill them. Going to try that with my low sl with max gear so well they get two messages. 1 I could have cleared the area easy for you and don't ask me for stuff.

Usually, I just give my host anything I don't need, be it titanite, a weapon, or even just a Humanity.

There are occasions when I get asked for things. Once, when I was co-oping in Oolacile, someone asked me for the Catalyst that the Mages drop. I told him sure, but then I fell off a cliff and died on accident. Didn't hear back, so I assume he moved on.

I dont really co-op so I don't have this problem. However if someone I PvP with asks me for something i have and dont really need I will usually give it to them.

I either block them, BS out and try to invade them. No comment, no reply to their asinine rants. Now, if someone is low on a few items, and asks nicely, then I give them some. Seriously, we learn as kids that if you want to get something, you have to ask nicely. I don't like brats. I move on and enjoy the game.

i almost never experience this issue.... in all my time in DS, pre and post patch. half the time, the host rushes through more quickly than i can. theres the occassional ****, but they never beg. just do generally.... assholish things. like BS me out without actual reason. not even having the chance to move. though thats rare. 

i've actually met quite a few people who ask for help, since i'm fairly good at the game(not to the point of a SL 1 run or something, but i can manage a belmont run without lock-on. matter of fact, i'd forgot lock-on existed up until bell gargoyles). sometimes i'll offer advice anyways though. 

honestly, i don't really see this. out of all the runs i did just 2 days ago for taurus, approximately 5-10, none of them were like that. most of em wanted to do havel though. pretty **** tactics were used, and most of em either died or died after i did, but no one begged for anything. mostly they stayed on the stairs and threw stuff, while i did the heavy slashing. fun fact, zwei does wonders on havel. black knight swords even better. even funnier is that the one guy that actually got down and helped, beat havel lol. anyways, thats besides the point. tactics aside i don't believe i've ever seen someone begging.

i just invade, so its not usually an issue, but i have the occasional things i ask for if i end up matching with a balanced fair fellow consistently, and even then i just repay them with something usually pretty outrageous. tonight for example, my interwebs were disconnected for a few months, so i finally pop back on and make a nub mistake and forgot to collect my 99 humanity -_______- after i died and lost all of it, so i asked this dude if he had any and he threw me like 15, which was cool, so i dropped him four slabs, if im going to go out of my way to ask someone for something, then im going to repay them nicely. also ended in a beautiful double kill, about as honorable as it could get.

One thing I don't mind sharing is humanity.  I had a host who was trying to kill O&S and said he was down to his last humanity.  I dropped three for him (I'd been farming them in the Abyss anyway).  I suppose I could have just told him to drop a sign to earn some back, but it's hard to know how busy the game is at any given time.  And after all, it's O&S.

I oddly get that a lot as a Black Phantom.  I've decided to use this to my advantage.  Respond with a question, wait for them to start answering, POWER UP THE FIRE TEMPEST.  I feel that gets the message across, and makes me laugh!

when people ask for stuff from you ash, thats a different horse altogether. people go into it expecting to hand over some form of collateral. in that regard, i am totally fine with it. it is your business to help people to make builds that would normally be impossible through in-game means, or to help super level someones characters with all the souls you somehow get. even helping someone get a hard-to-obtain weapon. the difference between this and begging is that this is a trade where each person makes a gain and a loss of some sort, and not some whiny little entitled ***** without an ounce of dignity trying to beg you for all you are worth.

Like I said I dont do that f thang if I come across someone asking for something and I dont know tem itell we gotta trade and I git my **** upfront

What I get asked for is the hacked armour and weapons. Apart from feeling extremely disgusted,I either leave or kill them in a harsh way and give them a bad player review. I feel annoyed just thinking about those people to be honest.

I would love to invade people in elite cleric armor and when they ask for hacked armor drop them cleric armor then kill them as soon as they pick it up.

This is Ash we're talking about. He doesn't do free. He somehow finds use even for broken straight swords.

Funny you mention that; I recently farmed for the Broken Straight Sword.. not fun.
