Re: Who is Sen?
Well, according to game lore, apparently Sen's fortress was made as a sort of 'test' to those wishing to gain entry to Anor Londo, so it would imply that Sen was simply the builder.

This is a lore question, so it belongs in the archives.

Makes sense. Doesn't explain why the winged demons are happy to bring you there, but afterwards stop you from advancing though.

Re: Who is Sen?
The Winged Demons that guard the citadel were just as illusionary as those of the sentients that guard it (the giants with the shields, if you do not know). The ones that lift you their are the real demons. As it were, they are not 'ordinary' demons, as they are the demons of god and not chaos (which explains why the 'real' ones don't tear you up mid-air. The ones who lift you ARE real, as they stay even after darkness shows its true form in Anor Londo. Almost everyone left the city, with the exception of few (some knights, the corrupted gwyndolin, some undead warriors, the sinner chests, and the Winged Demons).
Hope that clarifies such beings

Now that you mention that, it makes a lot of sense. Never really explored much after making Anor Londo dark in my first PT. Thanks

Re: Who is Sen?
I was surprised to learn that to, but it made perfect sense for so much that filled anor londo to be nothing more than an illusion.
I feel like it carries the whole motif of the game very well, with all of the areas just giving you that "what a sad, twisted existence" sort of feel.

Re: Who is Sen?
Where is all this information coming from? Just out of curiosity. I'm not doubting your answers. Ever since I started perusing this forum I've actually wondered. I feel like the game is almost purposely vague on a lot of these points and I feel like the only other source of this information would be the game book? Which I don't think contains any of this kind of thing.

Re: Who is Sen?
So in other words it's all just speculation? By that I mean, the things that the game doesn't obviously fill in. Like "Whose Sen?"

Re: Who is Sen?
It's all amassed from item descriptions, half the lore is in there and not surprisingly most people (including myself) don't bother with it, hence why some wouldn't know

Re: Who is Sen?
From Software is a master at leaving you have informed so that you feel completely hollow about the story and feel curious. The lack of detail lets you fill in the gaps with your imagination, and speculate all you like. Some see this as lack of story, other's see it as mystery. Either way, lots of people dig this method of vagueness and it drives them crazy.
In a way, this is in my opinion, much better than having all of the story/background/history written in detail and delivered to the player, where we either feel that the story has flaws (since its obviously written) or we just feel damned bored of all the story telling *cough*Metal Gear*cough*. We won't think of things as flaws to the story if we feel like we imagined it, and we definitely won't feel bored if we're dying to know.

Re: Who is Sen?
I'm not arguing with that perspective at all. I love the way the story is presented. The game doesn't hold your hand through anything. You have to figure out absolutely everything yourself. I think it's those concepts that help these games to separate the men from the boys, so to speak.

Re: Who is Sen?
Not sure if this has been posted before but, Sens fortress is probably based on the actual Princess Sen, who lived in Himeji Castle. It was a fortified castle, with advanced defernsive systems from the feudal period in Japan. It still stands there today as a national historic site.Pretty cool eh? just wiki Himeji castle for more info.

Great tip Gorgrim! Just read about it...steep and narrow walkways, stone drops areas....sounds familiar.

Re: Who is Sen?
I was actually considering creating a new PSN id named "Lord Sen", since I invade in there so much I figured I should play the part!
@Gorgrim
Thanks for the tip, I'll reconsider naming my new id "Princess Sen" and making her female! I'll have to wield a katana, I guess.

If you do go as Lord sen you should wear an armor new players haven't seen yet, so they might assume you are some super rare NPC haha.

Yeah, I usually just wear legs and gloves and skip the rest, but I think I'll have to dress properly if I'm going to be a Lord!

Re: Who is Sen?
I just made a list of all the equipment I would consider lordly looking!
Problem is, I need to pin down what type of lord I want my interpretation of Sen to be, before I can start mixing and matching pieces. He could be a dandy, matching with the Black Sorcerer Cloak; or a Barbarian with the Brigand Armor; a Knight, clad in Black Iron; or a representation of his fortress, an intimidating place of traps and torture--set of Thorns! etc.
If I can pin down either the helm or the chest piece, the rest will fall into place. For helms I have: Crown of Dark Sun, Mask of Velka, Crown of Great Lord, Helm of the Wise, Helm of Thorns, Dark Mask, Paladin Helm, or Painting Guardian Hood. For chests I have: Brigand, Black Sorcerer, Robe of Channelers, Dingy Robe, Moonlight Robe, Great Lord robe, Eastern Armor, Armor of the Glorious, Armor of Thorns, Dark Armor, Brass Armor, Paladin Armor, Steel Armor, Black Iron Armor.
I know, it's a long list! And that's without the gloves and legs... But once I have one piece set, the rest will pick themselves.

Re: Who is Sen?
Oh, picking a weapons first might help narrow it down!
I thought either:
- Shotel
- Manserpent Greatsword
- Flamberge
- Katana
- Spear
And it'll most-likely be dual wielding with either a bow or crossbow in the left hand.

flamberge seems to fit... i'd say use giants chest with a crown and whatever for legs.. you'd look like old king doran from demons souls if you used the pardoners mask....

Re: Who is Sen?
Often wondered about the logic of the ring that appears after the golem is dead to transport you to Anor Londo. It looks like a resonance ring for miracles, but colored the same as the yellowish fog gates that block areas until you have the lordvessel. Is it because it is created by the same great lord's power?

Re: Who is Sen?
Meet Lord Sen!
(My interpretation of him anyway...)
He's got 78 poise and, given his stature, I felt he should have the med roll, so he's at 50% weight.
I'm not 100% keen on his main weapon though. Maybe some axe would be better, since he's got a bit on an obsession with them! A spear wouldn't be bad either...
