Farming souls will generally be faster than boss rushing multiple playthroughs, though it would still be best to get to NG+7 beforehand for the most souls gained when farming.dalsio wrote:It's not too bad, just pop in for a bit every day and grab a boss or two, and then be on your way. Ya, if you and a friend really want to level to max, you're getting half a level per duel. So that's around 1400 duels per player or 2800 total. If you were a host killing level 125 invaders over and over, you'd have to do it 34,132 times to get that many souls.
Here's the one way I could imagine doing it:
-The way to get the most souls is being a host, killing the highest level invaders possible.
-Find a partner who is a member of the Darkmoon covenant. Make sure they are the highest level possible above you. It's a common misconception that they can invade any level lower if the host has enough sin. It doesn't work that way; It's actually just a fixed level range so you can't have a max level invade you.
-If you're level 120, for example, the Darkmoon can be no higher than level 212.
-You go to a low traffic area like the Ceaseless Discharge bridge, and your friend voluntarily invades you over and over and suicidies every time.
-You use these souls to level up, and then the Darkmoon levels up as well.
It would actually only take 381 kills of a max level invader to get enough souls, as a host killing a max level invader drops 4,439,674 souls.
The only problem with this is that of course the Darkmoon isn't going to be max level the whole time, you're going to be working your way up there together, so it'll probably take thousands of voluntary suicides from a Darkmoon partner in the end. And then on top of that, there's also the issue of how the Darkmoon gets souls? Are you going to invade them as well so they can level legitimately? That's going to take forever. Or, your Darkmoon partner cheats their levels... but then if your partner cheated, it basically means you still didn't level legitimately if you relied on that.
tl;dr - All max level players cheated or used exploits to get there.
