Best way to utilize "Quality" build?

Post by CrackSouls on Sun Aug 25, 2013 7:49 pm

    Hello!

I am making a Quality build (both Strength and Dex based) for the first time since patch 1.03. I have looked into a couple other threads and checked the wiki on the topic, but I thought "why not get fresh opinions?" So here is my main question:

Should I stick with 27Str and 40Dex and just two hand my weapons, or should I really make the effort to have 40Str and 40Dex? Why?

    Side questions:

I know you are technically two handing a bow at all times, so is the Strength bonus from 28 to 40 really minuscule for bows still? (again, haven't tried this since patch 1.03)

I have some ideas on weapons I'd like to use, but do you have any Quality weapons you particularly like. Why?

All depends on the quality weapon, and your other stats as well. You should try using mugen to help show the build http://mugenmonkey.com/

I personally like the Claymore and Sunlight Straight Sword. Claymore is just really really useful and versatile, and the SSS is well, Solaire's sword, so what's not to like?

If you want to parry, might want to go with 40 strength. It'll mean much stronger parries, though it is a lot of points to sacrifice just for that. If you prefer two-handing, go 27/40. If you prefer parrying, 40/40.

My favorites are the Longsword, for it's adaptability to a lot of situations and great combos. The Claymore for the same reasons, and it hits like a tank. Murakumo because it is like a meat-grinder versus invaders, just one good hit and you can stun-lock them to death. The Greatsword, because of the Iron Tarkus. And the rapier, even though it is mostly dex, because it is light weight, great for parries, and good for hit and run strategies.

Although if you're using some of the bigger, slower weapons, there's not really much need to worry about the time it takes to two hand, considering how you're mostly going to be swinging when there's a good chance of not being hit. So once again, depends heavily on the weapon.

Pretty sure you can't riposte when you two-hand a weapon.

Yes, I use Mugen before making any build. But I'm still unsure of a lot of things in this case. Something like this. The empty ring slot could be many things, Wolf will bring me to 53 if need be.

You can actually parry, then two-hand your right weapon, then riposte. It's a little difficult to do though.

It's quite possible, I've never missed a riposte because of me two handing my weapon.
Takes a little practice though, it's good to test on hollows though to get a feel for the amount of time you have.

I find after parrying you have to delay your R1 slightly or else you will do a normal R1 attack. Maybe that's just me, but either way I've screwed up in PVP situations many times trying to do that. Hahaha.

I'm still trying to figure out why that happens, but I suspect hit detection issues and lag, but it could be a distance thing.

40/40 if you can, claymores and long\broadswords are beasts with it, plus you can handle pretty much any weapon in the game(except mag\faith stat required ones).
