Dragon Age 3: Inquisition Empty Dragon Age 3: Inquisition

    Post by Argetlam350 Wed Nov 28, 2012 6:02 pm

Haven't seen a thread about it and I'm a big fan of the Dragon Age series.

Anyways this news has been out for awhile now, that Dragon Age 3 is in the works and has been for quite some time (supposedly about 18 months before the official announcement of Dragon Age 3).

The full title itself is Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. If you've played Dragon Age 2, it sounds like that it's going to kind of continue from that story, about the new war against the Mages, the Templars, and the Chantry. It's also been hinted that it's going to take place in a new area that we've only have heard characters talk about which is the realm or Orlais. It seems also that Orlais has it's own civil war going on with loyalist's to the ruling Empress and a powerful noble fraction (I guess this info comes from of the book tie ins to the series. It's called Dragon Age: Asunder).

Now some might be disappointed by it has been announced that Dragon Age 3: Inquisition will have a new character that the player shall play as, and it will be a set character like Hawke from Dragon Age 2 so unfortunately no race selection. No news on what race this new character will be though. The character will also be fully voiced and the conversation wheel will return. As for companions, no news on them, I'm hoping for some old and new ones.

However it has been also hinted at that though The Warden from DA:O and Hawke from DA2 will never perhaps again be the main characters of the game, they might appear again in future titles (maybe a hint that we can recruit them in DA3. I hope so.).

They're also going to fuse elements from DA:O and DA2. I'm hoping they give the players a story that it as interesting as DA:O and tons of new places to explore. Then use DA2's combat system but not as fast perhaps. Also I'd like to see Darkspawn return back to DA:O's look because DA2 Darkspawn look retarded to me.

Also, the developers have stated that they won't use rehashed dungeon designs like DA2 did whch was a big step down from DA:O. They've also said they are looking at Skyrim's openworld heavily so maybe it will be an openworld game, that sounds kind of cool.

Also I dug a bit more a few hours ago and found some other info.

Apparently one of the developers, Jon Perry to be percise, said that one level is as large as all the areas in Dragon Age 2 put together.

Also I did discover that the main character shall be human like in DA2 but you will be able to choose an origin of where they grew up or background.

Then they have said that you'll be able to travel to the Trevintar Imperium.

There's also going to be a new game engine, I believe Frost Engine 2 but can't remember.

Also companions will be able to wear armor like in DA:O (I'm happy about that). And rather then it be just the same armor for everyone (you know in shape and that) the armor will shape itself to the character that it is used with. So you know armor on a female character won't be the same shape as that on a male character. That's an improvement to me as well.

There's also been rumors of multiplayer but that has not been confirmed by developers.

Any kind of world would be better than the imprisonment of DA2. I loved the series up until it's last installment, but I'm going to be really reluctant to buy anything else that has the DA name on it before waiting and really seeing what other players are saying about it. I found pretty much every aspect of DA2 to be supremely disappointing.

Ya. I didn't mind the story of DA2 but it was so cramped compared to Dragon Age: Origins.

If they actually do all those things I'll be already be going into it happier than I came out of DA2. There's a reason all rpgs provide vast worlds to explore. That it's always part of the formula. The reason is because rpg fans enjoy exploring. Presenting a world where you not only are confined to a single city, but every area you go to within that city is exactly the same seems like they just straight up didn't know what they were doing. As if it were made by people who just don't play rpgs at all.

I'm still yet to play Awakening. I really want to, and I've actually gone out a few times with the intention of buying it, but every time I do I end up finding something else I really want and buying that instead. I guess I'm just too flighty for my own good.

I doubt they'll have you able to shapeshift into a dragon, that's way to powerful. Being a Qunari would be cool but they don't usually enjoy being anywhere near humans or other races for that matter.

Yes it's unfortunate that it won't have Origins race selection, but you at least still get to choose some sort of origin for this human character, that's more then what DA2 provides.

The conversation wheel I'm no fan of either but I guess DA: O kind of had it, it just wasn't a wheel and the conversation selections didn't tell what was good or bad but you could see by how the sentence was worded or if at times it gave intimidation or not.

    @Plastic

Awakening was fun, interesting stuff you learn, for example, there are talking darkspawn. Also it's where Anders and Justice come into character in Awakening. I think the digital version would be easier though then getting the disk just because then you only have to use one disk which would be the Origins disk.

For me just the extra added character development would be worth it. I'd love to see the whole Justice/Anders thing, after hearing about it in DA2. I have pretty much 0 space on my HD, so that's the appeal of getting the disk version for me.

Ah I see, well then I suggest you do get it because it is a great expansion and has a few of the characters from Origins in it. I think I might have to reget it. Had the disk version but sold it once getting all the trophies. Kind of regret it.

I really liked the way they implemented it in dao,and you usually had many options (the outcomes were limited, though). In da2 I have only four different options, and no way to determine what they mean. I'll pick one and then my character will say something utterly ridiculous.

I just think the fact that I can't control what my character says ruins so much when it's rpg game with focus on character development and interaction. On the positive side: It can hardly get worse than da2.

And I would buy awakening just to hear Anders' lines.

After Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2, I will be very wary towards buying another game from Bioware. I loved DA:O however, so if I hear good things I will probably try this one.

Mass Effect 3 wasn't that bad. Really the only bad thing was it's linearity compared to the first two games and the horrid ending they provided. Other then that I felt the story was really good and gameplay felt solid.

Anyways, either way I'll probably get it, even if it is as bad as Dragon Age 2 which I hope not. Mostly I'd buy it because I'm a Dragon Age fan so it would be difficult to avoid buying.

Apart from the horrid (very, very horrid) ending, I didn't like the plot of Mass Effect 3, for example how they introduced the Crucible, how they portrayed the geth, how they made the geth and EDI into generic pinocchio AI, the character of Kai Leng, etc.

Sure, some character moments were still good (Bioware tends to do that well) but I found the overall plot very lacking (as well as the choices).

I was also extremely dissapointed to see the poor way Bioware reacted to criticism, and how they misunderstood (acting as if the ending just had to be made a bit "happier" to improve it and all the issue with the "entitlement".)

Though I digress, this thread was about DA3. Sorry for being off topic.

Meh, I'm not a big fan DA the first one was good. The second was horrible though, ruined my experience with the series to be honest. The same could be said with Mass Effect, only played the third one. The gameplay was great but I just couldn't get into the story. Actually now that I think about it I just can't get into BioWare's games in general.

Why did you start with ME3? That is kind of late in the series afterall and confusing to learn the entire story in one game. Just saying.

Anyways back to Dragon Age 3.

So ya I've heard some things about multiplayer though it sounds like it would be like a co-op story multiplayer. Still rumors but looking into it more.
