bought him. good sustain and chunks of damage with his W, but a bit squishy. which is, imo, compensated by his passive. overall a good champ

Yeah he is a little squishy but his health regeneration, escape move, life drain weapons, and overall badassness makes up for it.

I main Twisted Fate now. I seem to prefer the aspect of hit-and-run combat as opposed to a face-to-face fight in LoL. It just suits me better in this environment, and keeps me alive much longer. >.>

People seem to call mid or top constantly, so I almost always wind up as ADC or Support (my friend plays jungle, though when solo sometimes I'm there, too).  My most common role is ADC, and since I refuse to use RP and am still saving for tier3 runes until I can buy/slot them, my typical ADCs consist of Ashe, Sivir, and Tristana.  In solo games I use Trist the most since she is least dependent on peels and her E is pretty obnoxious in the lane phase.

Wildcard hits like a truck early and midgame and he has great map presence post-6 for awesome double ganks with your jungler but lategame falls off sooooo hard compared to other mages and just turns into a stun bot (albeit a good one if you dont miss a gold card)

    on an unrelated note
I miss Brand when he was somewhat viable, the *** were they thinking nerfing his E range
can still pick up doubles when a scrub jungler tries for a sloppy gank post-6
    dat ult

other than mid I primarily jungle
unless it's a full 5 (which is usually the only way I'll play) I essentially jungle exclusively because everyone loves top and mid and I wont funlane with a random

god I miss this game but I also hate it passionately but god do I miss it I might log tonight and play a bit

Anyone here ever play as Talon? Is he any good/worth a purchase? If so, I may save up my IP and get him instead of Aatrox for now.

Talon... eh. He was super popular for a long time at the beginning of Season 3 because Black Cleaver was remade so it had stackable armor penetration. Also, his E was supposed to amplify damage done but it never did. Once that was fixed, he was rightly nerfed by a large amount.

He isn't bad by any means, he is one of the only AoE assassins and is a good counter pick to popular mid laners. Other champions can just do what he does easier, and more efficient.

Well worth the IP though, he is a lot of fun.

regarding talon: I wouldn't call him an aoe assassin but he does do some aoe damage and he is an assassin (just your big burst is mostly single target)
he's possibly my favorite of them but a situational counterpick to a squishy mid (gl against a swain)
mana intensive too but that shouldn't be an issue in mid due to blue, ton of fun to get fed and just gib targets
    EQWRaaIgnite first blood

also, played a smurf game with a friend last night (I was playing midwick because to hell with the meta I'm smurfing)
our voli went in on 2v1s feeding and called the zed bad for not suiciding with him, then ragequit
then after I didnt follow zed into a fight where we had no ults, I had no mana, and the enemies included a fed corki he ragequit as well
and then I remembered why I stopped playing with less than a full 5man premade

    He IS AoE though. o.o

Q is his only single target damage and it does less than his W and R, which are AoE.

yes but his burst relies on getting hit with all of the aoe, which means you have to be close, which means unless their whole team is stacked tightly it's primarily only going to hit a single target
his Q does more than a single hit of rake, substantially
rake actually does really mediocre damage if you only clip with the edge of it, it's part of the reason he has a hard time pushing lanes

Talon relies on hitting an enemy with multiple blades for burst damage, he's scary because all of the blades from rake and all of the blades from his ult hitting you twice each does absurd damage but that means you're ontop of them so only one target is getting hit with your burst

    he does weak aoe damage
his burst is basically only ontop of him, i.e. single target, but it's insane

also, forgot it was EWRaaQIgnite for max damage (Q after aa to reset the animation, everything damaging after rake for the bonus from his passive)

Rake has a range of 600, and his ult expands in a circle 500 units around him. It would be pretty hard to not hit more than one person with two relatively big AoE skills.

Q does more base damage than a single hit of W but W benefits 30% more from AD. And, if W hits twice it deals more base damage than Q at it's full duration.

I'd also have to say that the best combo for insta-gibbing your opponent would be harassing with W, then lead with E, auto attack into an instant Q then R into Ignite. Most of the time you want to end with R because it is your only escape and in a teamfight you'll be focused down hard if you stick around to auto attack twice then hitting Q.

Then again, there really is no "wrong" way to play a champion, only more effective strategies.

Post by Laharls_Wrath on Mon Jul 22, 2013 5:28 pm

I don't include 'harass' as part of max damage but in lane you should poke with rake and max that first, you want to try to get their health low enough to burst to zero and should know how much damage you can do to them based on your items and theres at what point in the game

you never go in to burst if you dont have your cooldowns, i.e. wait for rake if you've been harassing

E to gapclose and silence, gapclose means W and R hit for max damage, silence keeps you from dying
W as it's your highest non-ult damage and the only way you can set up your passive without help, it also guarantees they stay in range for the followup due to the slow (assuming you're hitting buttons fast enough)
R as it's your highest damage full stop
auto attack instantly retracts the blades of your R ensuring they hit the target right next to you twice
Q refreshes your auto attack animation so you can get two auto attacks in, now boosted by your passive
    ignite if you have it

all of this must be done in under a second before the silence from E wears off or you'll be in trouble

this is the most optimized way to burst as talon
edit: you can go R then W as well, the order doesn't matter there and it actually might pull your R in quicker than an auto attack making it slightly better)
obviously you don't do this all the time (notably only using the first half of his ult to use the stealth to get out in teamfights where you dont need full damage to murder their carry anyway), but when something absolutely has to die or you need your full burst, that is the combo and it is easily the best way to take advantage of relatively new players unfamiliar with his damage output
you poke someone to about half with rake and then pull that out for first blood and if you can't snowball off of that you're doing something wrong (farm the enemy champion in mid or get nikes and gank a lot, or both)

edit: also basing this information off gameplay from back around his release to maybe 6 months ago, if things have changed since I may be wrong

I was having a good time top laning Ezreal with a Thresh against Teemo and Kog'Maw.

Then someone wanted Thresh on bot(no, my best fiend ;~;) and a Yi went top with me.

Then Jax decided to go toplane and he massacred us all.

    Thresh is awesome.

His abilities locked in so many enemies for me to kill, and he knew he was a support, and was completely fine with it.

That's really sad.  Thresh is easily one of the most annoying supports to lane against, assuming he can land his stuff of course.

Turning the bottom lane into a "kill lane" is a lot more fun than the traditional "both sides try to outfarm" angle anyway.  I love supports than can put pressure on the enemy champions, as long as they don't shove the lane into towers and expose us to ganks/make farming impossible (I've had situations where Yi came bottom with me and used his Q to farm but did very little to harass the opposing champions...as Trist I can literally do nothing with that).

Alistar is fun to use...kind of like a reverse blitz but he actually does have a heal too, if a somewhat weak one.

Slowly making the climb towards platinum. Currently Gold III in promotion series to hop to Gold I, If all goes well I should be either Platinum or Diamond by the time this season is over happy

    Ezreal, I love you.

I got a triple kill with my ult shooting at two running enemies, the 3rd guy just got unlucky and was in my line of fire.

    Pantheon confuses me greatly.

After my first attempt at using Grand Skyfall I realized it's a long ranged attack, and even then it's hit or miss based off if your opponents know to escape the giant red ring that appears on the ground, but just his everything confuses me.

What is Pantheon and how do I do it?

Panth does a good deal of damage early on and you have to use that to take an edge fast or you'll fall off, generally play him top but he can (or at least could) also jungle and works well if you're setting up a kill lane in bot
    harass with spear throws
always monitor when your passive is up
main combo when you go in is spear->leap->aa->heartseeker iirc, it's been a while and I'd have to double check his skills again

his ult is primarily used for spacing
you'll very rarely hit with it, use it to basically cut off routes of either escape or reinforcement, a giant "you better not freakin go here" circle

for lulz, build him AP and try to kill things leaping and with mandrop, silly that it's ap scaling (unless they changed it)

Use his ult to cover large distances, eg backdooring

Can also be used to initiate team fights, but not very effective, I like more to use as an chase tool, or when the team fight already began and try to hit most people as possible.

Panth is fun and deals tons of damage early-mid game
