Cutting Tails

When cutting off tails, what matters? Is it total damage done to the appropriate spot? Is there a preference for damage type (beyond whatever the rest of the bosses body is weak to)?

Just wondering, it would make sense that heavy slashing weapons (20+ Strength Required Axes and Swords, for example) would be preferable, but I don't think that's what this game does.

if i were you use a weapon that doesn't kill the boss fast and most tail cutable bosses are more likely to have a tail cut near the tip at least,tell me what boss do you need advice for tail cutting

It's damage recieved, it's just some boss tails are trickier than others. Seaths seems to be the tip of the tail, always gives me trouble as does priscilla.

I shot an arrow at the second Gargoyle in AL the other day and got the tail for the host (somehow ).  The gargoyle was facing me, but the arrow may have gone through and hit the tail. Totally surprised me.

I got priscilla's with a fire tempest recently lol.  I suspect it's damage.

Tails I believe are based upon damage.

I once cut off Priscilla's tail with one swipe of my Zweihander and I got the dagger immediately, before the boss battle started.

I'd say that file was able to do at least 200+ damage per swing; I'm not sure.
